We ordered the dhal and sag paneer. Then we were told they didn't have the paneer so ordered the beef vindaloo. We love hot food but the vindaloo was as hot as the dhal and both dishes tasted the same. Service was average also. When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty, makes sense why. Just really average food.

Used to be great in 2004. Now very average; inattentive service, average food, will not return. Much better Indian food available nearby.

Claims to be 'authentic' but far from it. Dhal makani made in a tomato gravy. Paneer butter masala more like Chinese sweet and sour. Might be ok if you don't know any better. But if you're Indian or from Indian decent you will be really disappointed. Service is quite poor too. Asked for salt never turned up. Toilets are worse... More

A group of friends - eight in all were on the lookout for a good breakfast spot, view of the beach near our hotel and out of the sun on a Saturday morning - Impossible you may ask but no!! We stumbled upon the Ashiana with a view of the ocean and staff who were happy to adjust the seating... More

A great selection on the menu, rather than the normal standard Indian restaurant fare you get at other Indian restaurants. Have dined in and had take away on several occasions, and i have never been disappointed. Awesomely tasty meals that make you mouth water as they arrive at your table

Good curry, not the best in Sydney, but more than adequate for a night out. Could do a little bit better with the toilets, outdated, small and the floor was covered in water.

Nice food and good service. We ordered chicken jalfrezi and chicken tikka masala. Surprisingly both dishes looked the same and tasted very similar. Rice and nan were good. The two serving ladies had their own way of doing things but were pleasant and efficient.

This place needs a fire hose and a broom through it - I have no problem eating off the streets in Delhi and Mumbai, but I really struggle with a place that isn't honest about what they are touting - in other words, don't pretend to be restaurant with linen napkins in an upperclass tourist area but be dirtier than... We dined at Ashiana on a Saturday night without a booking. We were welcomed and shown a table to our liking. The service was very good and attentive. The goat was excellent as was the chicken korma. The Keema Naan was a tad over cooked but still delicious. I'll go back when I next visit Manly.

Visiting family in Manly and decided to try an old favourite from years ago as yhe youngest member of our crowd wanted butter chicken. Upstairs off the Courso is the best indian around. Tru favours with fresh spices.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
