We stopped for a mid week lunch pizza, two between three of us, a green salad and a bottle of white wine, cost was $125. As a local we love going to Hugo’s particularly for the pizza’s which are thin crusted and excellent. We had Chorizo and the Prawn pizza’s. Service was excellent, including being greeted at the door with a smile - not sure about some of the negative reviews on service as we have always had great service. There are definitely cheaper restaurants in Manly, but a great treat

We were recommended this restaurant and had the sharing fish platter. Technically we were too early to order this option but they happily let us sit and admire the view and drink water for a while and served us as soon as possible. Neither of us are keen on oysters so chef replaced these with additional grilled king prawns. I’m gluten intolerant and expected to be giving all the fried calamari to my husband but the restaurant cooked these in gf crumb and they were lovely. The half lobster was possibly the nicest I’ve ever tasted. Coupled with sauces for each type of fish and beautifully presented this dish was with every cent of its (fairly steep) price tag.

Having heard good things from friends about Hugos we decided to go with my parents for my birthday lunch. The weather was kind and a nice breeze off the water kept us at the perfect temperature. The staff were friendly and efficient from the moment we arrived. The menu provided plenty of options for everyone and we all enjoyed our meals including desserts ! The wine and champagne selection was very good and well priced for a restaurant of this level. Would have no hesitation in recommending Hugos for anything from a casual lunch to a celebratory dinner - the relaxed atmosphere should suit everyone. Limited reservations are available for lunches so book early or take your chances with the walk-ins.

Sadly like so many establishments in popular locations the steady stream of tourists often generates a distinct lack of customer care and average service at best -and so it is with Hugo's.
There's a good menu with dishes well prepared and presented, additionally an extensive drinks list but the wine & beers are way over priced.
We had a pleasant enough lunch but left feeling underwhelmed and stung by the pricing.

Delicious food, beautiful views and good service. More on the pricey side but if you don’t drink much booze you can keep the price down. There was so many things I wanted on the menu and it was hard to choose! Promising for any future visits though... we sat outside and had lovely views of the sunset over the water. Really enjoyable evening - I recommend the angel hair pasta with yellowfin tuna and the spaghettini with crab dishes

It should have been a birthday to remember and it will be, but for all the wrong reasons. Despite booking well in advance (and yes Hugo’s we know a booking doesn’t guarantee anything other than you’ll taking our money) and then ringing the day before to check our booking and discuss the dietary needs of two Coeliac diners and the need for a quieter spot due to the hearing of elderly grandparents, where did we end up? Right next to the desk on the main restaurant thoroughfare. I actually don’t think there could have been a worse spot. Sitting next to the toilet would actually have been quieter! And interestingly people without a booking actually got better tables than we did. Apparently there is a view....but.the only view we saw was of conceited management avoiding eye contact. Well done, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen restaurant arrogance of such a level. Perhaps so many have closed you have a captive audience but it was our first time and it will be our last. Thanks for tarnishing a lovely family memory. And by the way, your Wagyu could learn a thing or two from any steak at an RSL on the Northern Beaches.

This is my favourite spot in Sydney and I have made a tradition of enjoying New Year's Eve lunch here three years in a row, even though I live in the United States. These waiters and waitresses are unsurpassed, the food is sensation and the view has little that can compare. This year I was taken with the Barramundi preparation and a dessert that had vanilla ice cream on top of a warm caramel cake. They were extraordinary. This IS Australia and I so appreciate the professional and warm hospitality. I will make it my top priority to return every year. Congratulations to management and team. First rate in every way.

As manly locals, we've been to Hugo's many times over the years and as always the staff were rude from the moment our table of 8 turned up. We always know we are going to get rude staff at Hugo's so this was no surprise. What was a surprise was our $1500 bill that had a sneaky 8 percent 'gratuity' added to it! An extra $115 had been added with no warning, no fine print, nothing mentioned on the website or menu. This was a Saturday, so not a Sunday or public holiday when you might expect a surcharge. The only good thing about this place is the food... The miserable, cold staff and the sneaky 'surcharge' make the whole experience awful. After today, we will never go back.

After a long hot trek from Spit to Manly, Hugos was a perfect end to a wonderful day. A perfect setting overlooking the water to chill out and enjoy a wonderful lunch. We opted to sit inside (it is an open air restaurant so you still got a gorgeous view and lovely breeze) instead of the area lining the water (stools without backs) since we wanted more comfortable seating. Once seated it was a while for someone to come over and take our orders, service was just so so.
As far as the food. The best margerita pizza ever, thin thin crust just the way it should be. And the fish and chips was excellent also. A great place to recharge before heading back to Sydney.

Great for couples or groups!
The location is accessed easily eithernoj the ferry from Circular Quay or you can drive and park across the road in a parking station.
Staff were wonderful, from the reservation people through to the waitering and bar staff as well.
The sharing plates were tasty and great,
the main meals were wonderful and the desserts, well they were fantastic.
We went on an extremely hot day and the “Hugo Punch” was refreshing and o highly recommend it!
Can get a little stuffy on exceptionally hot days!

Went to Hugos for dinner as a friend recommended it for it's beautiful location near the water.
I had the steak with owen potatoes as I really wanted to eat meat.My friend had the Troat. When the bill finally came the steak came to $56!!!!!
What a rip off as it was nothing special and small dish!!!
I am very dissapointed with the amount of money it all came to.
I won't be going back

I feel lucky to live so close to a place like Hugo's, never fails to impress. An absolute go to spot for when you're hosting people from out of town. It is easy to see why this place is at capacity even on a Monday night, the service is nothing short of 5 star, consistently.
The food is beautifully presented, incredibly tasty and well priced for what I would consider to be one of the best locations for a restaurant in the country. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

It was our last night in Australia following a fantastic 3 week holiday . We were treating our two friends and our niece. Hugos was recommended and was an ideal location for all. I phoned in the morning and popped in whilst going across on the Ferry. Both times i was told that I could not book a table which I accepted.
The frustration came when we arrived and whilst there were plenty of tables I asked for a table outside with a view . I was told by the same lady who i spoke to in the morning that the table had already been booked . When I questioned this i was give a very curt and rude response. I decided that i was not going to make a fuss as it was our last night. The food and wine was excellent but the experience was spoilt by a rude front of house manager who needs to go on a Customer care course ! The level of customer service was in marked contrast to our first night at Icebergs by Bondi Beach which was excellent.

Watching the sun do down over Manly beach while enjoying an excellent meal made our last night in Australia very special. Friendly and helpful staff and an extensive range of fish dishes made it a great choice and will be something we remember for many years to come. The restaurant is on the wharf, next to the busy ferry terminal, and the beach is a favourite place for youngsters to hang, out so it’s a very buzzy place. booking is essential.

The view is amazing and luckily we we had a table on the water as the inside was very busy and quite noisy especially for a Wednesday night. Not sure what to make of thsi palce - amazing view and location but lots of people having a catchup over a drink and pizza- table next to us was someone having a business meeting and saw very little food being consumed. Waiters were attentive and Jordan was a great waiter. Rest of menu is a little on pricey side to dine alongside people having pizza and a beer in my opinion.
