Booked a table for us & our granddaughter a couple of weeks ago. Ended up with a table in an area I hadn’t seen before & off the radar. Staff ,as always very pleasant but service & continuity was all over the place. We paid $253 for what was not a lot but adequate. This would have been flat out being $100 in a normal Chinese restaurant. Have been to both Queen Chows & indeed most of the Merivale restaurants & constantly ask myself if I want to pay such a premium . Sydney is an expensive city & Merivale restaurants are well staffed however this doesn’t guarantee good individual service. There prices are at the very top of the limit.

I’m so disappointed to rate Queen Chow this score. It came highly recommended and we booked, we were given a wonderful seat at the window with views outdoors, the food was really delicious, even the toilets were good……..but we literally had to beg to get served. For literally every part of our experience, we had to try to get someone’s attention. At one stage we even helped ourselves to their condiments because we were sick of waiting to attract someone. It felt like no staff member was assigned to serve our table - it was just a free for all. If you’re motivated by great food, by all means head on down. But if you want to spend your entire experience feeling frustrated and even apologising to the staff for interrupting them, then Queen Chow is for you. We won’t return.

Great out look, upbeat atmosphere but food came out cold. Very expensive for basic attention to food delivered to the table cold. We were a table of 10 celebrating a birthday and we had the banquet 65 a head This issue was pointed out to the waiting staff but was not rectified at the time. Also desert was small and not enough for 10.

Celebrating a 50th birthday during these crazy COVID times was made very enjoyable by this Cantonese restaurant. The service with check in was efficient and the waiting staff were great. The food, well it was all amazing, from the dumplings, fried rice, Mongolian lamb Choi bau and finished with the fried ice cream.

Enjoyed lunch with friends and the food and service was attentive and genuine. Good selection of food, accommodating with options for vegan and wait staff understood their menu. Merivale sets a high standard and this venue did not disappoint. I recommend

SO ordinary. And cost us $500. The salt and pepper squid was hard and really over cooked. We then got fried rice and some half cooked duck floating in water 20 minutes later. 45 minutes later we got the rest of our mains, pork, “market fish” that cost $45 and supposed to be a main portion (what a joke it was at best 250grams ) and then prawns that were actually shrimps, that tasted more like sugar then anything else. Food was seriously average and we paid high prices as well. So unimpressed! The service was crap, we had to signal constantly for anything to order and then when we asked wheres the mains were - after an hour of waiting - We were told the restaurant was busy,…spend your money elsewhere.

Food is full of flavour, well presented and arrives in a timely manner. Service is also very good. My small concern is how busy the venue was, seemed to be no regard to current social distancing rules. They did thoroughly wipe down tables and chairs between guest arriving and made sure everyone registered. Just very little room between tables. Despite being chockers conversation at the table was easy enough to maintain.

We were so looking forward to the experience - we love Queen Chow at Enmore. Manly was a flat out disappointment. The restaurant felt like an RSL with tables jammed in so tightly that weight staff were reaching over the top of us to serve food. We were left to refill our wine glasses, wrong food brought to the table, chopsticks to awkwardly eat bugs, 2 requests for hand towels post bug debacle. The staff really don’t care and entirely inattentive until it came time to pay the bill where I was expertly coached on how to leave a tip. I get we were at the beach and a more relaxed vibe but a $500 bill didn’t match the service we’ve come to love at Enmore.

Had a dinner with my daughter and the food was pleasingly fresh like not too oily and with fresh vegetable with my shredded beef. My daughter had the noddles and they were nice and not over cooked. Great wine list with plenty of options by the glass. And of course a great spot at Manly harbour. But the price was high so a high quality of everything was expected

We were a family of 12 with young kids and hence booked early at 6 pm ! We have fined as a family at Queen Chow on a number of occasions , preCOVID and recently . After ordering at 6:15 , we waited until 7:20 to see one fried rice and then most but not all dishes arrive in stubs and drabs from 8 to 8:45. Really poor service ! We won’t be back any time soon ! It is a pity ! We have had good evenings preCOVID and poor evenings there . Very inconsistent . My wife dined two days later at Hugos where by comparison , she said that there was plenty of attentive service staff and light years ahead of Queen Chow. Hemmes needs to lift his game at this restaurant !

Sunday lunch table of six, Bill $650..restaurant will take only one $25 voucher per table. Very disappointing as we understood if restaurant signed up to accept vouchers then that is what they would do. It is cash after all.

We chose this of all the harbourside restaurants based entirely on the decor and ambience and were not disappointed by the food. The salt and pepper squid was excellent and the service was unobtrusive and speedy. We will definitely be going again on our next visit to Manly

A group of friends booked last Saturday night. The waiter who was in charge of our table showed us the banquet options and then promptly said if you order from the banquet the food will come out on time but if you order just off the menu then it'll be late. And two of our friends meals were so late most of us had finished ours. Not good. Not happy with that. A bit overpriced and may not go back.

Food is really good, but I waited 15mins for a beer with my empty beer bottle sitting on the edge of the table. At least 3 waiters walked Pask and no one offered to get me a drink. Its 5 star Chinese in price but far from that in service. Additionally we had to ask for the drinks me U after being seated for 15mins.

Is this a joke!? I've lived on the beaches for 30yrs. Moved near by so this was one of three options. What a terrible version of what we ca Chinese food. Szheuen prawns were simply sweet and short pork sauce with prawns. Rice poor, I'm actually shocked how bad this is and a price rip off. Was the chef out when I ordered.

Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
