What a fantastic dining experience! The food was simply amazing, with each dish expertly prepared and presented. We ordered entrees, (Onion Bhaji, Chicken Tikka) with, some Lime pickles & sweet Mango Chutney, and the Masala Dosai, Kheema Dosai was very tasty, also the special grilled Barramundi fillet was outstanding, each item was delicious, showing great care and attention to detail. The ambiance was impressive, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. But what really stood out was the precise service - our waitpersons were attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured that every detail was taken care of, Overall, it was an excellent experience, we’re certain we'll be back. Thank you, Malabar team! - we'll be back for more!

Crows Nest spoils you for choice when it comes to great Indian restaurants, and this is another one. Food was excellent, apart from the biryani which clearly wasn't a biryani. Overall, well worth a visit.

These guys are well known for great dosai and the dosai won’t disappoint. The other curries we had were fairly average. The meat on the saag was overcooked and the prawn curry was so suit we could not eat it. Our waiter was chewing gum with his mouth open behind his CV19 mask. It was pretty bad and really put us off. Overall it was an average experience.

We (5) arrived at about 6pm on a Saturday night with another family (4). We/my family ordered for entree Sambar Vadai $11.5, Kheema DosaiMini $15 and Chicken Tikka$18.5. For main we ordered Butter Chicken “Chicken Makhani”$28.5, Chicken Biryani$27.5, 2 x Basmati Rice$3.5, Cheese Naan $6.5, Naan$4.5 and 2 x Pappadums $3.5 6 soft drinks and 2 beers Stone & Wood 9.5. Whilst the food was good, the servings were small and over priced. When clearing our table we noticed a small leech on one of the plates making its way around. We called the waiter over and he picked up the plate, looked at it and replied it wasn’t on the food. Who cares were it came from it is on one of your plates in your restaurant. First and last visit for us. A bit off putting.

I’ve been dining here for over 20 years and the experience just gets better and better. Last night we had both flawless food and flawless service. Just goes to show that sticking to a winning formula is the best option. The Malabar ticks all the boxes .

We moved away from Crows Nest four years ago, and so were excited to be back in town and to go to our favorite Indian restaurant again. The food was fantastic, as always - a wonderful tasty and spicy Goan fish curry, the Palak Paneer was just right, and their Bangalore Dosai is still the best dosai we’ve ever had. We’ve been eating here frequently for sixteen years (with a 4yr break) and the quality of their food and service has always been excellent. We leave town again for a while next week, and we’re missing Malabar already! :)

The Malabar achieves what few restaurants manage - serving consistently great food. The number of nearby imitators that have come and gone in this time is testament to Malabar’s success, as well as it’s many long time and regular customers. Wine lists are not a ‘thing’ with Asian restaurants but theirs is good, failing which their is a good bottle-o 3 doors down the road. If I had a minor issue, the food is not spicy enough but living in Asia I’ve got accustomed to that And free Limited time (evening) car parking in the council car park behind in Nicholson Street makes visiting easy

We have been to Malabar many times and never disappoints. The restaurant is over 2 levels and was full, although the service was attentive and efficient. Great dhosas, curries and naan. I highly recommend the Goan Fish Curry which is superb.

We thought we had found the best previously, but this tops it. The Dosai is by far the best I have ever had. We love indian food and have tried it in many different countries. These guys do it really well.

All the dishes we ordered were tasty. Accommodating, given the odd number in the group compared to servings per dish. Waiters helpful and not intrusive.

Hadn’t been to Malabar in over 20 years! Well, I was reminded, very swiftly, of how GOOD it is! The space, the staff and ambience were exactly what was called for, on a cold, Sydney night. The service was prompt, efficient and thoughtful. The meal.... was delightful! We had the special paneer with black peppercorns... holy WOW!!!! Yum yum yum. Spinach and yoghurt, looked like desert!!! But my oh my!!! I’m craving it now. Prawns were the absolute standout!!! Seafood curry was amazing!!! Loved every moment, oh, and I got to keep my COVID,sign in, Malabar emblazoned, pen!!!! Winning!!! Very reasonable for the whole experience!!! Well most definitely be back!!!
