We tried this place at random whilst staying locally and it proved to be an excellent choice. Very friendly staff, good drinks selection and great food. If you are there on a Friday try the posh fish and chips - superb.

Had an enjoyable meal here last week with my wife. The service is excellent and the owners very attentive. We had the fish pie which was very good and crammed with fish! My preference would have been for a smaller helping with some veg but that is just a preference. The menu looked tempting with plenty of other dishes that... More

What a gem! Book early...this has to be one of the best restaurants in Wales! Wonderfully friendly, professional, service. Great atmosphere. Sumptuous and intimate. Small but perfectly executed menu. Great wines . Worth the 2 .5 hour drive!

We had a beautiful meal in this hotel when staying in nearby Tan Y Gader for two nights. Firstly we had a drink in the upstairs bar which is modern, clean and well presented. We stayed here whilst reviewing the menu's and placing our orders, which is great as you are only shown downstairs when your meals are almost ready.... More

Well we wanted to finish our short break in Dolgellau on a high so this was the only place to come! We were looked after so well by Jen, a great asset to your team. Our food was excellent as expected but we all missed our little 'shot of soup' prior to going down to dinner. It's a very special... More

We ate here on valentines night and are so pleased we did. The service was so friendly, and the food was excellent. It's not over priced but the standards are high, it's well recommended. We will be returning.

There is a fixed price menu for either 2 or 3 courses with a good selection for each course. The smoked duck starter was very tasty. The lamb for main course was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. The service was excellent. We were well looked after and was there were no delays. A good wine list with many varieties.... We came the restaurant for an early birthday meal. We were welcomed on arrival with exceptional pleasantries and made to feel very welcome. The staff are exceptionally attentive and certainly knew their food and drinks. The fool was presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. we weren't rushed and we had plenty of elbow room. All in all... More

Y Meirionnydd Townhouse is a great restaurant and bar in the centre of Dolgellau. What was the original old County jailhouse has been skilfully converted into a contemporary, stylish and yet cosy restaurant serving traditional British dishes with a Welsh twist using mostly local produce. The ground floor bar is a great place to unwind and relax with a drink or light meal. Booking is essential, please check for opening times. Please note we are unable to cater for children under 8 years old.
