If you were to travel five short miles from television’s Broadchurch (West Bay, Bridport) you would find yourself at the Marquis of Lorne in Nettlecombe nestling in a folded countryside where the far horizon is no more than a few minutes away. A 16th century pub and Inn that personifies a country pub with home-cooked food and a friendly welcome.... More

The food we enjoyed whilst staying at The Marquis of Lorne was excellent. The menu was varied with a good selection of meat and fish dishes and generous portions.

My wife and I had evening meal here a while back and it was great. Staff very attentive. Calling in more recently we had coffee in the garden and even that came with a small plate with some lovely petit fours on it. Nice touch.

Came for a meal on a recommendation, and we've spent three New Year Holidays here! Located in a tiny village nestled in the hills it looks like a chocolate box but the reality is even better. Hosts Steve (the chef) and Tracey (front of house) have made this a pub you just never want to leave. Over the many times... More

The variety, the quality, the variety and the presentation of the food in this charming Inn is wonderful. from steaks to fish and chips. This was my first visit to this out of the way pub, but I feel sure it won't be my last. I had a sirloin steak which I like blue and that's how it came, the... More

This pub is well worth finding and is open on a Sunday nights. Welcoming and warm on a cold November evening. Meals were well presented, delicious and good value for money. Waiting staff attentive but not intrusive.

We arrived to an empty pub early in the week, but the fire was blazing the staff welcoming. We had been told the portions were large, which they were, but the quality was not compromised which is a rarity. The starters were well seasoned and flavoured with some lovely bread. The mains were huge, the lamb shoulder was excellent. We... More

The food here is good. Well cooked, served hot and tasty at moderate prices. At first the service was a bit reserved as if we were intruding on a quiet evening. But it got better as they realised that we weren't aliens and we had come in peace. There were eight of us, all locals, and we ordered main courses... More

Having stayed here around five years ago, we chose the Marquis again whilst in the area. The remote location suits us as it is quiet and beautiful. The staff at this establishment are friendly, and so were the folks who were drinking in the bar. Our room was lovely, and the whole of the upstairs had been successfully revamped since... More

I am always wary of Pub Sunday Roasts but have to say that this was the best Sunday Roast I have had in a pub! Amazingly light yorkshre pudding, tender beef and a selection of 5 vegetables to share as well as roast potatoes. The veg was not over cooked which so often spoils a lunch and the celariac mash...
