Been here twice now and on both occasions we have found the lady very rude, the food is ok but expensive. You are not able to take dogs inside despite being on a popular walking route. There's nothing friendly about this place at all.

I've eaten here several times and the food has been great on each occasion. Lovely view, friendly staff and great food - what more could you ask for?

In my experience, many so-called eco-friendly restaurants disappoint and my expectations here were limited. They are either expensive, pretentious or bland. How wrong I was; the Café Ode is as authentic as I have seen. We each thoroughly enjoyed our food, the service and whole experience. Right from the cafe's own solar energy usage chart, the cooking and heating approaches... More

Came for lunch today with a friend and it was just so lovely. Managed to get a nice bench to ourselves and it was quaint and quiet (I imagine it will be rammed in the summer), the place had a nice vibe about it and the food was delicious. I had sausage and caramelised onion bun and my friend had... More

Lovely staff and even better food ! Healthy locally sourced food that is prepared fresh i from of you. A cosy log fire makes it a favourite winter hang out and outside tables make it lovely for the summer with your dog. Homemade chocolate brownies and ginger cake are the best ever. Karen front of house and Ian the chef... More

We visited Cafe Ode at Shaldon over the Christmas break and really enjoyed it. The staff are very attentive and the chef Ian will do anything for you. Really lovely food and relaxing atmosphere. Recommend to anyone.

We visited at 2pm on a winters day - this is a popular dog walking area but dogs aren't allowed inside so we had to sit outside. We asked for sausage baps and were told they were out of sausages so we asked for bacon bap instead to be told that they weren't serving breakfast items - we asked what... More

Lovely place - stunning views and really helpful friendly staff. The food was stunning, but the only downside was the portion sizes were small for the amount we paid. I would have hoped for a bit more. Ideal location and a great sustainable cafe.

The first thing I must say is that the eco-industrial chiq vibe works. The place is clearly popular and will certainly wow patrons looking for a trendy hipster experience. This is especially the case when sampling the excellent micro-brewed beer which is produced on the premises. However, I am afraid it will not appeal to foodies looking for value for... More
