Went with a group of girls to celebrate a fiftieth birthday. This was my first visit and a very memorable one with the water taxi setting up the evening superbly. Good tasty food with excellent service in a unique location. What's not to like? Will definitely be back!

Eight friends visited the River Exe Cafe whilst on a weekend visit to Exmouth. We were picked up by the water taxi at the arranged time and taken to the restaurant with fantastic views along the river. Staff were very welcoming and the food was of a high standard, with some interesting combinations such as mussels, bacon and cider. The... More

After seeing the restaurant on the tv, friends who were visiting us for Easter suggested we go. The journey on the water taxi sets up a quite unique experience. The evening was slightly overcast and I imagine if the evening is sunny it's a stunning setting. The staff we very attentive & friendly and the restaurant is rustic with large... More

This Cafe had been recommended by friends and we were not disappointed. We went on Easter Monday and found the whole experience, the water taxi, the views and the food to be very enjoyable and quite unique. The ferry leaves from beside The Point Bar in Exmouth. The boatman was very friendly, he pointed out a seal on our return... More

Been to this establishment a few times and can not fault the whole experience, from the taxi ride, the food options and the staff. Although there is a time limit this is understandable and has just made us want to go again, looking at previous reviews with regards to taxi times it has never effected us, it just gives us... Went there for my birthday treat, we loved the ambience but found the menu rather limited and bearing in mind that we were nearly first in they ran out of the special I ordered and it wasn't that busy. To be fair I did get a free pudding but neither my partner or I felt the food justified the price.... More

The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.
