Expecting a small local pub that did basic food for the camping tourists. What a surprise to find a true local pub that had very good food and well kept local ale. From first setting foot Inside it has a welcoming atmosphere with friendly chatting...locals and staff willing to engage in conversation. Good size garden out back with Rabbits and a fire pit. I wish all the best to the Landlord in creating a fine English Local.More

Totally relaxed environment for a chilled out Saturday lunch. Very welcoming with a wide range on the menu. Great food! A quintessential village pub, we’ll be back.

This was our first visit to Bovey Tracey and we found this place on trip advisor. For a family of 5 we were so pleased by the warm and friendly lady behind the bar, nothing was too much trouble and she was very kind to...the children as they ordered various with/without burger items! Great food, charming place and would go back.More

Had a great meal at the Palm Arms - we were in a group of 20+ friends, food was all served together and was really good. Service was great. Not easy dealing with such a big group with all different meals but couldn’t fault them.

Had a lovely Saturday evening here with my mother and 2 kids (8 & 10). Friendly staff, great traditional pub grub, Chocolate fudge cake made locally by Sheila up the road and good selection of real ale. What's not to like?

Cold and hungry in the hill-side village of Hennock, the cosy-looking free-house pub seemed like the obvious place to be. And what a very pleasant surprise it was. I would imagine the Palk Arms is humming at holiday times. It has everything, attractive bar and...restaurant, the typical British Pub atmosphere locals expect and foreigners love, nice people and picture perfect views across the Teign valley. The landlord, an ex-pro rugby player, is well-travelled and it was good to have a chat. I ordered burger, chips and onion rings and a local ale. Would the burger be bulk-frozen catering food, so typical of many pubs ? It was soon ready and attractively served on a plank. It was definitely home cooked and above expectations. The ground beef (local butcher) was real, fresh and excellent, the onion rings in a crisp batter and hand cut chips very good indeed. The relish and slaw were good enough not to need any additions like ketchup. The local brew was a Newton Abbot ale, aromatic and flavoursome. It was all delicious and hit the spot perfectly. I will see you guys again !More

To visit the Palk Arms is a trip into the countryside. Hennock is on the map - but drivers should beware of the narrow roads!! Once at the pub however, all is very well indeed. The view from the lounge windows is an absolute must-see, one...of the best vistas in Devon. Set in the classic English village setting (there is no shop, the bus only visits very infrequently), the pub is a real gem. Taken over about a year ago, the current landlord has set about improving the pub's image with ongoing tasteful makeover(s), both visible and behind the scenes - with obvious good results. The beer is good, the food menu relatively simple but well-cooked, the general atmosphere most convivial and welcoming, the service (both bar and restaurant) excellent. Dogs and children are welcome. car parking is in the village car park or (if you are lucky) roadside near the pub. Look out for the "public library" too!! All in all, an excellent reward for the intrepid explorer.More

Me and my family fancied eating out tonight and decided to go somewhere different. So we hopped onto trip advisor and found the Palk Arms. Seeing the last two reviews and how one sided they were we were unsure about what to think, however we...scrolled down and saw further reviews which presented the pub in a positive way, therefore we came up to give it a go. We were greeted with an attentive bar maid, who instantly showed us to our table and showed us the menu (which is written on slates) It was so busy, which was surprising for a tuesday night, as most places are dead in the week. The menu has a great variety and offers something for everyone- which was good in our case as my daughter is quite fussy! Our table had a Thai chicken curry, the haddock fishcakes and our two children had the chicken nuggets which are served with chips and beans. The food was amazing, proper pub grub! With a good price and a very good portion size, you walk away feeling full. Unfortunately we were too stuffed for desserts, however the desserts that were served to tables next to us looked gorgeous, and seemed to be enjoyed. All in all the whole experience was great and we will be reccommending this place to all of our friends and family! We will continue to show support to this pub, as you are made to feel so welcome. Fair play to the Landlord and Landlady as they seem to have a great pub with great locals.More
