During our short wintertrip we ate two times at The Pier Head. My fishplate was a good choice. Not my friends chicke that much. The second time I choose fresh fish Not bad but average. Prices are slichly too high for what you get. But if you have the cance and the money, have the fish platter.

We had our sons christening in the Pier Head last May. There were 20 of us in the upstairs room. It was a really sunny day and the views were beautiful. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Pier Head for a family event

Of all our travels, domestically in the US and abroad, The Pier Head in tiny Kinvarra, Ireland has what my wife still calls 'the best steak I've ever eaten' - quite the testament considering some of the higher end places we've eaten. But The Pier Head was the culinary pinnacle of our collective trip to Ireland in Oct 2015 -... More

We stopped for a bite to eat on the bank holiday Monday. The bar part is nice but average, lovely view of Kinvarra Pier and Castle though. I ordered the main dish of king prawns in garlic butter and a lime and chilli dip with a portion of chips, a very average dish, the chips were actually frozen oven chips... More

Absolutely fantastic dinner! We had a seafood special that we shared as a an appetizer -- huge portion of crab claws, shrimp and mussels in a spicy broth. Unreal! Then we both had the lamb entree that came with a fantastic mustard sauce. This dinner was one of the highlights of our whole trip!

11 of us, an almost 50/50 mix of adults and kids arrived on this fantastic little spot right on the water without advanced booking. A warm welcome greeted us. A light lunch was in order for us all. A good mix of chowder, soup of the day and kids main courses were ordered. Our food arrived without delay, along with... More

Stopped off here for dinner. We sat in the restaurant side and had a great view of the pier. Restaurant was quiet at this time and a little bit cold! Waitress was super friendly and helpful. Took our order pretty quick and we got served our food in great time too. Food was delicious I really enjoyed it. God was... More

It's hard to separate the dining experience from the village of Kinvara, itself, because it's all quite wonderful – quaint, authentic, enticing. The Pier Head offers great views of the waterfront, and also of Dunguaire Castle, certainly worth a visit on its own. The food suits the setting – lots of fish and seafood, and excellent chowder.

This Galway hidden gem is worth the drive from anywhere in the west of ireland. Ambiance, staff, selection and service is fabulous. I'm from San Francisco, so I know my restaurants. Try the pier head, you will find something to delight your taste buds!!
