I was taken to the Magpie on a recent visit to Dalkie. A warm and welcoming restaurant with a decor steeped in early eighties. At first I thought the menu a little overcoming with its choices but having chosen beautifully cooked scallops and Dover sole cooked to perfection for mains, I have to say I left with a well satisfied... Visited this place a few times soon after opening but the service was so bad we haven't been in years. Decided to give it a go recently and again, the food is very good but the service is shocking. We spent most of the night trying to get the attention of a waitress, anybody! Very frustrating as Dalkey need's a... More

As someone who rarely eats pork, I highly recommend you order the Magpies pork kessler from their menu - it is so rich, full of succulent tastes that mingle together to give you a melt in the mouth eating experience! What really supprised me was that it surpassed even the last time I ordered it =-wow!T As for the staff... More

I hadn't eaten here for two years as my last experience was not good. The Magpie must have a new owner and or a new chef since then as there was a great menu with a good selection of dishes and the food we ordered was very good

Was there the other night I like the settings but the price of drink is the dearest in Dalkey and the service was bad to a point where we ordered our drinks as soon as our first drinks were put on the table as the first order had taken so long so no I won't be in a rush to... More

Had been here twice before this visit and the previous time the service had been slow even thought he pub was not that busy. This time we were greeted at the door pretty much straight away and brought to a table. We then sat there for 20 minutes with no staff in sight to even call over so we just... More

Excellent atmosphere especially on weekend nights. Nice menu, better quality than your usual pub and great beer selection. What sets this place apart is the friendly and helpful staff! Do stop by if you pass by Dalkey ;)

This pub ticks all of the boxes. Friendly, helpful staff (Alistair, Peter, Mark and Andrew in particular). Huge variety of drinks, especially craft beers. Great food menus, delicious food and really reasonable. Perfect for a private party in the function room upstairs. A great relaxed place to meet friends. The snug is the best!

As the last night of the holiday we had a very enjoyable meal which was served quickly and extremely well cooked. Very enjoyable.

This is one of the best Craft Beer Pubs that I have visited in Dublin. The selection of Irish draft beers is second to none with a great selection of bottled including a couple of great American and Belgian as well. The food is not bad at all either so all in all well worth a visit
