We have enjoyed the food at El Porton in other locations. We tried the Germantown location and will NOT be back. Slow service. Dirty. We actually saw roaches. Never again!

The restaurant failed my Chili Rellenos test - badly. The food is ok I guess, but they go cheap. When I order Chili Rellenos, I expect the traditional recipe. When a local restaurant puts a slice of pepper on a plate and covers it with a spoonful of hamburger and then a spoonful of melted cheese, I consider it very... More

My friend and I stopped in for an early dinner. Chips, salsa and drinks were served quickly. Chips were fresh and salsa tasty. Our entrees arrived soon after ordering. The food is standard "American " Mexican. Good but nothing out of the ordinary. The guacamole underwhelmed. The only issue we had was getting our check. We had been finished eating... More

The Salsa and Chips were the best I have ever had. The food was very disappointing. They are so busy trying to make nice presentation on the plate that they forgot about what the food tastes like. There are a lot of restaurants in the area. Pick another one. I now know why we were the only customers there.

My older son and his family had recently moved to Collierville, Tennessee. This restaurant was recommended. Prior to airport departure , we stopped with our daughter -in-law and 4 children. I was surprised that for a Christmas vacation week that it was about 30% occupied. But our lunch experience confirmed why. The food was particularly bland and poorly presented .... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a date for lunch. We had nothing to do for the day (Mom's in town watching kids) so we enjoyed food and adult beverages. The place was not crowded and the service was not great but I wouldn't say the worst ever. We ordered margaritas. They are one of our favorite drinks... More

There are a number of Mexican restaurants in the Memphis area. I'll try the others before I return to this one. Initial service was slow and the place was not crowded. The follow up service to check on drinks, inquire as to other service such as dessert was absolutely terrible. All and all the food was 'average' and nothing to... More

I reviewed this restaurant a couple of years or so ago and found it to be excellent. So, when we moved back to Germantown, TN, we decided to go there for some good Mexican food. Boy, was that ever a bad decision. We arrived at a little after 7:00 on a Tuesday night. Only five tables were occupied. We were... More

My favorite Mexican food ever. Even the basics are anything but. Great rice, beans and if you try only one thing, it has to be the Choriqueso. Epic in house, reheats fantastic and is to die for. Love this place.
