Surprisingly there are not many options in Columbia for good country cooking with Lizard's Thicket being the obvious choice. Most things are good, but occasionally you will have something that tastes canned. The fried chicken is very good! Also, if you like soup, the vegetable soup is very good.

Asked for dark meat. Got all white meat. Cornbread was muffins that were pale yellow, no discernible corn. They were inedible. We threw them all out. And margarine/butter included, not plain butter. The carrot salad was great. No delivery, although the website said there was. We were staying in a hotel, only 1/2 mile from restaurant. We picked up order... More

I have to say that I tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt THREE times! Shame on me the third time. The food I got was take out and it was horrible. It had been microwaved (heat up), and the meat was so hard and chewy you could tell. Perhaps, other people have had better experiences but I... More

Asked a local where I can get some down home southern style cooking. He immediately recommended Lizards Thicket. Who??? What??? While I could not pronounce the name of the place...there food was delicious. They had too many choices, so I ordered TWO meals!!! Had one for an lunch and the other for dinner!!! Now, I am not gonna tell ya... More

Eat at Lizard's a lot since moving here some 8 or 9 years ago. Decent food, low priced, friendly staff. Sometimes the green beans taste canned. Stew is great. Fried chicken is tops at times and undercooked at other times. Irmo unit is busier than others and less friendly, but ok.

Lizards Thicket has been around for a long time...Standard 1 meat, 3 veggies, Cornbread or rolls for dinner. Mashed potatoes not really home-cooked, but passable, rice and gravy just OK. Lots of food for the money, although the plates used to be a little bigger a few years ago.

Consistently yummy whenever we eat here. A wide variety of meat and three dinners. Beef stew is always good as is the meatloaf. Salads are always good and the vegetable soup is so good this time of year!

If you want good down home cooking ...you found it! The hamburger steak with peppers and onions is my favorite. The fried chicken is also very good.

Good southern cuisine. The fried fish was so good that my 9 year old (who's very finnicky) ate both his and half of mine. He also enjoyed the green beans and had a happy plate. I loved the lima beans as well. Service was good and quick. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely eat there again.
