It had been several years since I had been to Blockhouse, thought I would refresh my memory. Not a lot of physical changes- large group of regulars filling the bar stools for lunch, comfortable seating in the wood-paneled dining area with booths and tables. Excellent flavor in the beef brisket, slaw that tasted homemade, onion rings taste great and lightly... More

One of the oldest restaurant on Augusta Road. Food is average and so is the service. The chicken salad is probably the best thing on the menu. Lunch time is quiet and not crowded. Good location.

This may have been a great gathering place at one time but, someone stopped caring. Prime rib was greasy, oysters were thin and tasteless, while shrimp cocktail were still frozen on the plate. Service was prompt and courteous and portions were ample but, we're not likely to return if the otherwise extensive (something for everyone) but not inexpensive menu remains... More

Let me state first of all that I love their homemade Bloody Marys. They are fabulous. I've been here over 200 times and have always had a good meal. This is a Greenville go-to. Centrally located with a varied menu. Today I had the grilled ham and cheese for the first time, and it was really good. I paid extra... More

Each person had something different from the menu and all said good was hot, well prepared and served quickly. I had lightly fried calamari with ginger Parmesan flavored cyst and marinara sauce on the side. Little pricey at $14.95, but large serving. Friendly efficient service.

Walking into this restaurant feels like walking into a dive bar or club, through a strange vestibule which opens into a dark bar where no staff pays attention to you. The bartender never noticed me even as I came to try to find menus. After finding our way through the alternately over lit, then eerily dark corridor to the back,... More

One of the older restaurants in blooming Greenville. My husband and I went there on our anniversary. I wanted seafood and he wanted oysters. There aren't a lot of seafood places here. It happened to be a buy one get one free appetizer night. Everything was delicious and hearty portions. We sat in a romantic booth with wall lighting that... More

All the food was good although a little on the expensive side ($11 for a plain hamburger even though it was 8 oz.), Fries are especially good. Waitress was inattentive and, at the end, never came back with the to go box we requested and never came back to pick up the check. I had to go to the bar... More

Blockhouse is a pillar of the Augusta Street neighborhood. I don't know all the history but I know it's been there a long time. The atmosphere is an experience in and of itself. Something that harkens back to the 80s, golf themed (or was it horse themed?)very dark, woody, tall, secretive booths in one section of the dining area. Floors... More
