Great food and service. Salmon with lump crab was superb. Even with a large party, everything was well done.

We had shrimp and grits (excellent, ask for sauce on the side -you will get a soup sized portion) and mussels which were very decent, but not excellent. The place is nice - exposed brick
Excellent offerings from chicken to shrimp to salads. Unique though, not same old offerings. Staff was great and the specials were worth it.

Sassafras has a consistent track-record for good food at a fair price. The Lump-crab and Salmon dish is flavorful and the risotto worth trying. On warmer days the outdoor seating is great for people watching. Usually packed with locals and tourist but worth experiencing.

I reviewed this a year ago and liked the food but it was dark and noisy. Ate here last week and was happy to see the overhaul...brighter, quieter and the food if anything has gotten better.
