From the outside it doesn't look like much but WOW everything is so good. The fried chicken is hands down the best. Collard greens, mac and cheese, to the sweet tea is phenomenal. Must stop! The women working there are also very animated and behind...More

I called in the order, but upon arrival it wasn't ready due to a mix-up. The sweet lady was so apologetic and made my order right away. The food is made so fresh. She even threw in some peach cobbler at no extra charge. Then,...More

What a wonderful place with wonderful people. The food is amazing! If you want the experience of Charleston and a taste of the Southern Soulful cooks you've got to stop by for some lunch. You won't regret it!

A small, soul food restaurant with a lot of color and more flavor. The food was just great. Especially the fried chicken. Martha Lou's has limited seating. Real down home friendly, Good service. However the okra soup I had was really salty. Otherwise good food....More

Everything about this place was phenomenal, from the fried chicken (best i've had in years) to the collard greens and cole slaw. The service was fantastic, kind and attentive and upbeat, and the decor was inspiring. I am thankful that destiny brought me here, it...More

This is a real southern hole in the wall run by 3 charming ladies. Not fancy, but real. The best southern fried chicken, fish, chops etc with great side dishes: red rice, Cholard greens, potato salad, corn bread and coleslaw. If your looking for authentic,...More

There is no pretension here. Even with the accolades and modest amount of fame, this is as it started out to be; Southern Home Cooking. The plasticwear and foam plates suite this place. The ridiculously small, open kitchen ... and the welcome you receive from...More

We wanted to experience Gullah cuisine and this was recommended by someone who lives in Charleston. The four of us had a fabulous lunch. My husband is still talking about the Lima beans! Short Uber from historic district.

No patio.
There will be 5 seniors in my group taking a bus tour from Myrtle Beach, SC to Charleston, SC on Thursday, May 21, 2015 and we wanted to have lunch at Martha Lou's Kitchen. Our first stop will be at the Charleston SC Visitors Welcome Center where I believe is in down town Charleston. We wanted to take a cab from this location to Martha Lou's Kitchen. Can someone tell me how many miles/minutes it would take to get there? Thank you. RYC
