I had the roasted whole snapper and it was the highlight of the weekend! My husband had the shrimp and it was good, but not quite as good as in New Orleans. Service was outstanding. We went in without at reservation and it was still packed even at about 10pm on a Saturday. We sat at the raw bar which... More

My husband and I were fortunate to get a reservation for a Sunday night only a few days prior to going. We got lucky! Dinner was small plates and an exceptional bottle of Pinot Noir. We had a few cold appetizers...peekietoe crab and bay scallops plus we shared fried oyster sliders and the fried fish special of Black Sea bass,... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant built in a 1920's bank in Charleston and were blown away. From the fried oyster slider, served banh mi style, to the black bass with celery root purée, this eatery checks all the boxes. Our waiter, David, was knowledge and helpful with the menu and knew the ingredients of the menu including the... More

My husband and I visited The Ordinary before catching a show at The Gaillard Center, and it was a delightful way to begin the evening. We enjoyed wonderful, attentive (but not smothering) service. Additionally, our dishes were delicious, and I'd return again and again for the fish chowder. The broth is perfection.

So what can I say about the ordinary. What isn't there to say, this place is unbelieveable. I've lived in the downtown charleston area for years and have had many a seafood in my day but this one tops the charts. If your looking for the best raw oysters in town come here. It's a bit pricey but by no... More

This is a sister restaurant to FIG, and wonderful for seafood. More of a date place --seating options are not good for families. We enjoyed: smoked oysters with house saltines, radishes and hot sauce, Rudderfish pâté (wonderful!), panzanella salad, peel and eat shrimp with some Old Bay, and the "Wednesday" special fish schnitzel with cornichon, radish and lemon.

Great setting in an old bank building. Thinks didn't start so well after a long wait for our drinks and then to order. Food was good (battered fish and chilled shrimp). Ultimately a good meal, let down by average service and the cost (e.g. the cheapest bottle of wine was approximately $40 which is way too much, there should be... More

A great spot. Loved the vibe, great wait staff and fantastic food. Oysters and chowder were a knock out, as was the chocolate pudding for dessert. Will definitely go back!

Been here many times, never disappoints. I think it's arguably the best restaurant in the city. Smoked Oysters are without a doubt the best thing I tasted while in Charleston and possibly the best oysters I've ever had. My husband is from Louisiana and has had many oysters in his day - these are his favorite. Friendly staff. Reservations are... More
