Girls weekend in State College. Lousy weather but amazing food and libations. Came here for the steamers available on the bar. Steamed clams, steamed mussels and steamed shrimp served with warm sour dough bread. Add a cold pint and we were in heaven! Shrimp was...More

Very good menu choices, reasonable price and options. You can get higher end menu items or grab a burger. Seafood is an option. The atmosphere in the bar area is enjoyable with Tommy Wareham on the keyboard playing everyone's favorites. This is a great place...More

Acoustic tunes at the piano bar every Sunday night with Ted and Molly. Alehouse plays some pretty sweet tunes when they don't have live entertainment too. Food is awesome, service is lovely. Great place for a family get together, romantic evening with bae, or friends...More

Have been to American Ale House about 3 times, and food/service have been fairly consistent. Not fine dining by any means, but a nice option for standard tavern fare. A little out of the way from downtown, but sometimes it's not a bad thing to...More

This visit was for lunch. When we got there it was not busy, there were only a couple other tables, but it took a long time to get service. I've never had a problem with the food and this time was no exception. This was...More

It's my Sunday night hangout. Great music most nights. The gumbo and jambalaya are awesome and heat is adjustable to your taste. Other food is always excellent. It makes for a great date spot or after work hangout.

Yes, they take reservations. I suggest you ask for the room with the piano bar if you like it louder and rowdier (piano player is great - lots of fun!) or ask for the dining room that's more quiet if that's the atmosphere... More
