I ordered a spinach salad first, then the Jager Schnitzel which is a breaded fried veal covered in mushroom gravy along with the potato pancakes you see in photo. The salad was great with eggs and warm bacon dressing but lacked fresh mushrooms. The Schnitzel I recall having in Vienna had a very crispy fried coating with veal, melted cheese... More

A neighbor hood historical gem Still serving the best German food in the city. Handcarved original bar and the famous Rathskeller, a hide out during Prohibition are preserved in a still vibrant eating, drinking place. The highway may obscure this gem but the food is worth the travel to small side street off East St. Food and drink are plentiful... More

Friendly bartenders. Great food! Reasonable prices. Genuine German food. Very welcoming. Sunday brunch is awesome too! Jamie, our server was very nice, efficient, and helpful with the menu.

Max’s is in a converted building and has several different rooms. It is a German food theme restaurant, but offers a wide variety of American style sandwiches. All the food is good and have generous portion. The cost is average. The restaurant itself is clean and the décor is not modern, but adds to the over all atmosphere.

We came here twice during our weekend as it was close by our condo. The food was very good. The service was very good. The beer was ice cold. I had the burger one night. It was above average. And we had some German fare the next day. Would go out of the way to eat there when in the... More

My friend wander to eat here. We both found the atmosphere very friendly, welcoming and very tasty food. My friend is a rather picky eater and just loved all the food we were served. We ate the sausage platter variety, sauerkraut, potato pancakes. I suggest trying the sauerkraut relish with the rolls served prior to your entree, yum. I also... More

The German food at this tavern is authentic as it gets. The beers aren't bad either. It feels like stepping into a time machine and traveling back 100 years. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Plan to go to Hungarian restaurant, but ended up in German. Musty old place with sticky tables. Order two plates of the mix German food to share. Food were fresh , but nothing to write special about. We decided to skip desert all together after main meal. Eatable, but will not came back.

This restaurant was discovered in the National Geographic book, Abroad At Home (editor Robert Reid) and it was a delightful find. As we first entered the establishment located minutes away from the baseball park and football stadium, we though it was just another bar- but much to our surprise, we were led to the dining area which was a marvelous...
