Searching Trip Advisor for an upscale restaurant while in Pittsburgh, I came upon the listing for the Carlton. A short Uber ride from our hotel brought us to the BNY Mellon Center on Grant Street. The atmosphere whispers “exclusive.” The décor is elegant but not over-done. The service is prompt, precise, and old worldly – all good! The extensive wine... More

Outstanding dining experience. Located downtown in the Mellan Bank Building Atmosphere conducive for business discussions while dining (tables far enough away) as well as any special occasion. Over 600 wines to choose from, good selection of entrees, excellent quality food, very good service, management made sure you were well satisfied, server was excellent. Great overall dining experience, business casual attire.... More

I Used to go to this restaurant when I lived in Pittsburgh years ago. It was always a treat. Well what a disappointment! I had the duck pasta and the duck was so tough, I couldn't even chew it. The sea bass got passable marks, though nothing stellar. I also thought the wine by the glass was not good. they... More

the Carlton has been our favorite for a long time. I often rave about the food, the service. but last night was over the top. excellent food, service and wow as to the sommelier. we had brought in our own unique (or so I thought) bottle of wine. it was my last bottle, but we wanted to share with our... Finest entrée, wine, desserts, service, and overall dining experience. Take someone here that you want impress or want to be pampered. We've been going to this restaurant for years and it is a Dirona award-winning restaurant for a reason. Highly recommended.

This place never disappoints and my recent trip there was no exception. We had business group of 12 and they set us up in a quiet location that was conducive to easy discussions. The food was prepared perfectly and delivered by very knowledgable, seasoned staff. When I can't make a mistake at a business dinner, I always choose the Carlton.... More

My second overnight ever in Pitt. I wanted to find a locally run estab, not a chain. Internet search turned up this place. I called first as I wanted to make sure they weren't overun from baseball game going on. I was assured there was seating and I walked over. A previous reviewer nailed it by describing the atmosphere as... More

This place was fabulous! The atmosphere is cozy. Due to a completely booked dining room, we found a table in the bar area and ordered off of the regular menu. The beef tenderloin meal was so good, beef you could cut with a fork, blue cheese and demi glaze, perfectly cooked carrot medallions and mashed potatoes. You WON'T be disappointed.... More
