This bistro is a contemporary style, BYOB restaurant, with good service and food, but very little was excellent about the experience. The service was friendly and helpful, but it was slower than hoped for. The appetizers were good but not great. The best one was my carrot bisque with the mushroom tempura. The pork belly was a little too fatty... More

Our dinner last night at Avenue B was amazing. The meatloaf dish was seasoned perfectly, cooked to one's taste and served on a bed of delicious mashed potatoes. The top of the dish was piled high with thin thin crispy swirls of fries ( ?) The service was timed perfectly. We felt attended to but never rushed. It was our... More

Good atmosphere, tasty food. The pork belly lettuce wraps (as an appetizer) raised expectations: it was cooked to perfection and seasoned with ginger, peanuts, and understated pickles on top, crisp lettuce rounding out the experience. Both chicken and braised pork shank entrees followed suit - both with a creamy polenta base and the latter with a diced apple chutney(?) and... More

My husband and I do a monthly dinner date night with another couple. One of the rules is that we must select a place none of us have ever been before. This month we chose Avenue B. The waitress talked me into ordering the meatloaf dinner, something I have never ordered at a restaurant before. It was scrumptious! I also... More

This restaurant was highly recommended by someone at our hotel and it was close by. We were alerted that it was a BYOB establishment, but since we had just driven many hours, didn't see the need to find a bottle, opting for the water. The restaurant was crowded, but we were shown to a table. I must say that it... More

My wife and I wanted a restaurant in walking distance from our hotel in Shadyside (Pittsburgh), and came across Avenue B. This restaurant delivered well beyond my expectations for the neighborhood. The staff was helpful, friendly, and knowledgable without pretense. The food was creative and tasty. We especially enjoyed the parsnip and pear bisque and the Chilean Sea Bass with... More

I don't know about you, but I think that an $8 "corking fee" (the fee to open your bottle of wine) is a little outrageous for a BYOB restaurant. [I wonder how much they would have charged to open beer bottles.] I don't live in Pittsburgh, and I've heard that lots of the smaller, good-food restaurants are BYOB. I'm not... More

I didn't realize that many PA restaurants expect you to bring own own bottle, so we dashed in to this place last minute, without libation. A nice chard would have been excellent. The food is great, the service was terrific. We had a pork special, brussel sprouts, and wagyu beef meatloaf. The two amazing dishes, however, were the book ends.... More

They want to be fancy and thy are in the most part. The staff is upstanding in front of you, looking in eyes and talking without stops, demonstrating a knowledge about everything they offer. The food is fancy, too. Nice arrangement, superior look, needs more taste. The Wagyu meatloaf in my plate had no structure and spices at all, but they... More

Nothing left on our plates!! I enjoyed the Pork Chop with spaghetti squash, broccoli and bacon jam!! Delicious!! Everyone ordered something different and enjoyed theirs just as much!! Love that it's BYOB!
