We always have a plan b for this spot. The piano bar can be very good or very bad, so take a moment to give a listen before sitting down. The first floor bar is a safer bet. The food is always good and even...More

The Black Horse is just average. They have a burger special on Wednesday for $7.00 a burger. It comes with chips. If you order a basket of fries, it is an $8.00 UP CHARGE! While the service is good, there are better specials in Newton.

Who doesn't love a neighborhood piano bar? The Black Horse is much more than this, though, with good food and a variety of entertainment. Bill and Francine keep the place lively and humming, while Kat & Nicky serve up drinks with a smile and conversation....More

This bar is a great place to get a hamburger. It is small the drinks are expensive but the crowd is very nice. The bartenders are friendly. Good for a quick trip or stop for a beer or drink.

I think the space could use some reconfiguring. The band that was there last Friday night was really outstanding. Skilled musicians. Not enough room for the people dancing, serving, hanging out in the room. Husband ordered nachos and cheese, and sandwich. I had salad. Actually,...More

Not the friendliest place around. The back room tables have white linen tablecloths, nice if you want a formal dinner. The front room is more of a bar atmosphere with the high tops pretty tight together. IMHO fairly pricey, $8 for draft beers. We went...More

I stopped in with my daughters for a quick bite to eat on Tuesday night. I had heard good things about the place. I ordered tacos since it was taco night and a margarita. Both were fine but the taco reminded me somewhat of taco...More

Ambiance is amazing, service is great, food is good. Tricia is fun on Fridays, and I wish they had trivia more often. Margaritas are a little on the weak side, which is fine by me because they are delicious.

Black Horse is a great place to grab a drink or visit for happy hour. For dinner on a weekend, however, there are not nearly enough servers. Our last visit took an incredible amount of time before we were even able to order and we...More

We have driven past this place tons of times and decided that tonight was the night. Walked in and the bar scene was packed. The restaurant portion was a little slow, but that is fine, its not a huge restaurant. We quickly were seated and...More
