What a good venue this is. Typical Greek fare, that, very quickly, has your palate singing. We were a five and all of us were singing praises of all our dishes, entrees, mains and desserts. The staff were very efficient, attentive and very happy to help us through our meals with answers to all questions. BYO wine is also an option which always suits us. We will be back here whenever we visit our family at Empire Bay.

On a wet day on the Coast our group had to search for a venue for a lunch catch up. After calling around, we were able to get a table at Ela Mesa. Not much to look at from the outside and the inside also is dated but you come to a restaurant for the food ....it was great. Full of flavour and great to share. Lamb casserole falls off the bone and the Greek sausage stew is very tasty. Fried Gruyere cheese - yum. Only disappointment were the share platters which we felt were undersized for the cost. 2 bottles of wine later and a tasty meal under our belts we were happy with the time spent at Ela Mesa.

Finally made it to Ela Mesa for dinner after years of having ignored its rather uninspiring entrance through a motel. What a treat it was! Lively and fun atmosphere with musicians playing Greek music, attentive and friendly service and really delicious seafood. The restaurant was full, which was great to see after lockdown. If I had a suggestion it would be that the $65 pp seafood feast is quite steeply priced (while acknowledging that bugs, prawns and scallops aren’t cheap… and it was super well prepared and tasty). It would benefit from a few more extras such as bread and dips, or else $50-55ish seems more like it. But, we had a fun and delicious meal and will definitely be back, thank you!

Six of us went to Ela Mesa on a Saturday night. The service was very disappointing - we ordered pita bread and dips and asked how many portions we would need and were told one would be enough. When it was served one portion was more suited to twe people - we ordered another portion but after a long wait we reminded the waitress who said she had forgotten. We were offered more pita bread by another waiter and were charged $10! When our mains were served the table hadn’t been cleared of the pita and dips. Also the pita bread is flat and cut into small segments - nothing like it is served in Greece where souvlaki can be wrapped in the pita bread. We all enjoyed our mains so it was a pity the service was so disfunctional.

I attended Ela Mesa restaurant with ten members of our club. I had dined here two years ago and did not enjoy the experience. However, I was prepared to give it another chance. To cut to the chase, it had not improved. Only one person in the group liked the meal. I ordered the grilled fish, it was mushy and had no taste. The Greek salad was okay. The service was ordinary with the staff just going through the motions, making no effort to enhance our dining experience. When I handed over my credit card to pay for my meal the owner informed me ‘No split bills’ however, he would accept cash. Having only $20 in my wallet I made my way to the local Bank to withdraw the cash needed. I returned to the restaurant and handed over the cash to the owner, never to return.

On a last minute booking we came here for a NYE dinner as a bit of a treat. We made some online enquiries and got really quick and helpful responses from the restaurant and so committed to the fixed price NYE banquet. We were excited about a NYE Greek feast. It didn’t turn out like that. We walked into the restaurant almost unacknowledged and whilst the staff were courteous they were not attentive. For the price, the food serving was stingy and - apart from the seafood which was quite nice - the food was average. We also paid a fixed price for the kids on the understanding we would all be sharing the same banquet dishes but then found the kids only got a choice of pretty average chicken or lamb skewers with chips after we had shared some entree dishes. Can’t recommend and will not return.

A group of four last Saturday night , were very impressed by the dips and pita as the starters (Pita a little light so needed to order more) but the 4 variety dips was excellent. The two of us who had lamb found not only was it not succulent, it was tough and not easy to enjoy even though the meat was the cause. The kitchen got one sent back, we were offered another dish but by the time it came out the others in the group would have finished their meals so it was declined a dessert ordered instead. Of course happens, the staff told the friend who was paying they'd been sent a tough batch of meat, in this case the patrons have been told that lamb was off the menu tonight as it should have been obvious to those cooking it and there's no point in tarnishing the restaurants reputation offering by inferior quality. Apart from that we did enjoy the evening, will return as we've been before and found it was fantastic. We do enjoy the music here on Saturday evenings (although it's a little loud to allow much dinner discussion unless you strain to yell over the top). Perhaps it would be best to reserve the louder music until later in the evening when coffee and desserts are coming out.

Third time lucky...No! This time my husband and I invited a female friend to dinner at this Greek restaurant. Jennie loves lamb so we didn't hesitate to order, passing on the entree just got some bread for the table. The slow roasted lamb dishes themselves were very nice the meat tender the sauce flavorsome but served with soggy chips as an accompaniment with nothing else seems very strange -we asked why not vegetables, is this a Greek tradition? Our waiter suggested a bottle of Greek white wine (not retsina), told us it was superb and would go nicely with our food choice. We found the wine to be both overpriced at somewhere over $60 a bottle and very forgettable. The menu remains stagnant, the decor out of date, there are no truly wonderful things to say about this restaurant, won't be back & sadly, that further narrows the food options on this part of the coast.

Revisited after a too long absence. Service, as always, was friendly, professional, and attentive. The selection of entrees and mains is enough to allow you to keep coming back to try different meals. Prices are moderate, servings are large. Social distancing has not reduced the numbers of diners and tables are, mostly, well spaced to give you some assurance of minimal contact. Our sardine entree, and haloumi with figs entree were excellent. Chilli/garlic prawns, mussels, mediterraneabn pasta, and scallop mains also excellent. Happy to be back and will definately return.

4 of us ate here this evening, birthday celebration. Octopus was delicious, dips - 1 portion enough for 3 people, mains were excellent and we enjoyed the live music. Wait staff were pleasant & attentive without being intrusive. It's been a while since I was here for an evening meal. Great to find it's still an enjoyable place to meet with friends.

I discovered Ela Mesa had been there for some time but unfortunately for me only my first visit. Why didn’t I know about this place sooner. The food was great. We had the garlic & chilli prawns for entree to share and the the lamb blackstrap and lamb souvlaki. BYO wine was a bonus. The highlight though was the live music 🎶 on a Saturday night albeit a tad loud for good conversation. Atmosphere wonderful. We’ll be back 😊

Nice setting with ease of access for elderly patrons of which our group had a few. Was overall a little disappointed with the food served. Entrees were good, however main meals were hit and miss across the group. Would have expected a bit more quality for the price charged, especially on the seafood front, $39 for what appeared frozen bugs not great. Was looking forward to the visit, however didn't meet the expectation!

First time at Ela Mesa tonight for our wedding anniversary. We did not have reservation but they were very accommodating. We had the baby octopus and chilli prawns with rice for entree - fabulous. Mains we selected were the barramundi and the slow cooked lamb - both delicious and cooked to perfection. The wait staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Thank you making our night special. We will definitely return

Ela Mesa offers fabulous authentic Greek dishes, wine, beer and spirits. I find it hard to go past the char-grilled Moreton Bay bugs and prawns, and also the dips and pita bread to share. But there is a broad selection of Greek dishes to choose from. Their Greek wines are fabulous, carefully selected by the owner, Paul (we are especially partial to the reds). The restaurant interior is graced with paintings and photographs of Greece and traditional Greek instruments (which I believe are sometimes played on Friday or Saturday evenings). And there is an outdoor patio which is refreshing in fine weather. One of our favourite places on the Central Coast. Highly recommended.

Before Covid my friend and I had been to Ela Mesa several times. This time we caught up with two other friends who were first timers there. Food was excellent as usual, however service wasn't great and at times none existent. There was a lag in bringing several of the drinks and one drink altogether forgotten. The music started around 6:45, right when customers were trying to have a conversation, and was so loud for such a small venue, we couldn’t even hear the person sitting beside us. They didn’t turn the music down or take a break, even the waitress basically put her ear against my friends mouth just to hear her. My first timer friends aren’t keen on rushing back.
