Spices 29 still remains the 'little pearl of India'.

We had friends from PNG/Cairns visiting and decided to treat them to one of favourite restaurants on the Peninsula. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 7.00pm. Nelson the owner chef welcomed us and we enjoyed a Kingfisher beer while we perused the menu. We selected entrees of fish Kadwadi, Onion Bhajia and Meat samosa which was more than adequate for the 4 of us. We selected house special curry mains of beef, lamb, prawns and a spinach paneer.. The meal was as usual delicious and excellent value and still remains one of our favourite restaurants.

Excellent food very friendly service

First time visit today with 3 family members and the food was excellent. I am definitely not a 'hot' spicy person and am usually quite sensitive to even mild doses however the mild mango chicken was so mild I could hardly notice it all. As well the chicken, rice and cheese and garlic naan bread were truly a joy to the tastebuds. The other family members also greatly enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was very friendly and was quick to suggest to our spice loving guests that maybe it was better to try a medium curry and not the hot level and she was absolutely correct. The restaurant decor and menu celebrate a Goan illustrator Mario Miranda with some very unique observations of Goan life, truly fascinating, we will definitely return

I ordered food to take home which only took about 30 minutes to prepare despite a busy restaurant. You will be asked if you want your food mild, medium or hot. I chose medium which was good but in my opinion was nearing the spicy hot option - so beware!

NEVER eat at this restaurant!!!!!

I ordered take-away and I got a giant bug/maybe a roach? in my beef vindaloo. I thought it was a piece of beef, until I ate a piece and it was unusually crunchy. I thought it may have been a crunchy spice, so i continued eating through until there were parts that would not dissolve in my mouth. I took out the unknown substances and placed it into a napkin. There was obviously an exoskeleton and wings that I was chewing on!!!!! I had heard great reviews about this restaurant, but I do not think I will ever eat Indian food again after this HORRIFIC experience.

Dear Ronir, I would highly appreciate if you could give us a few more details about you order. Details such under What name you had ordered, Contact No. for your order,time of your order and mode of payment you used. Especially during the COVID period we have the details of every customer on our computer system. I have already got the details of how many serves of Beef Vindalo’s we have sold for the day and under what name. We follow a strict policy of food quality control due to which we try to keep high standard of hygiene. Our pest control at the premises is done on a regular fix interval of 3 monthly duration and just to be justly this we have had a health inspection done just yesterday as it is regularly done by the council and proudly secured a excellent rating for the same. If at all there were issues you dint call the restaurant to report about this on the same day or on the next day or until today.would have very good if you had a picture of the same to show us. Therefore requesting you to call the Restaurant with the details of your order with Name,contact,time and payment. Thanks

Saved by the food.

Spices29 Goan Indian Restaurant was recommended as one of the best new Indian Restaurants on the Coast. Therefore we had to visit it to see what all the type was about. We booked for dinner. On entering, our first impressions were that the decor was that of a local cafe rather than what we would expect of an Indian Resturant. There was background music, but once again not Indian. The lighting was too bright due to the ceiling lights and hanging lights all being on. As it was evening the lighting should have been more subdued to create a pleasant dining experience. We were about to leave when approached by a very pleasant staff member who showed us to our table, next to the only other couple in the room. Now for the good news! We ordered three dishes, plus three side dishes. Every dish was delicious. Some of the best Indian food we have tasted. Thumbs up to the chef. 👍 Will we return? For the Decor and atmosphere, No! For the food, Yes!

Great family dinner of Indian food for birthday celebration

Our first visit to this great Indian restaurant in Woy Woy and will definitely be back. Six family members (including 2 children under 10) celebrated our son-in-law's birthday and were not disappointed with any of the dishes chosen from the Banquet Menu. Good value for money and very pleasant staff members.

Outstanding Indian Food - some of the best ever!

As locals, we choose to eat here about once a week. The food is truly outstanding. We have eaten Indian food all over the world, including India, and this is certainly the best. Nelson always has a few specials on the go and these can really tickle your taste buds. The staff are friendly, helpful and amazingly happy - even during Covid-19. Thank you. Don't miss this excellent restaurant.

Nice food and service

The service was friendly and we were pretty happy with the food. There were some Goan dishes on the menu but largely it was fairly standard Indian fare. There is often a tendency to sweeten dishes a bit much in Indian restaurants in the area but that wasn't evident here, which is good. Overall it is certainly up with the best Indian I've tried on the Coast and will certainly eat there again. It would benefit from a touch of atmospheric lighting. It was a bit bright and had the feel of an older style cafe. Nonetheless, the food makes it worth a visit.

Never disappoints!

This place never disappoints. The peninsular lacks in consistently good food options, but Spices29 bucks that trend. So many good options on the menu. Love the Manchurian Chicken starter. Highly recommended.

Best Indian food on the Central Coast!

Best Indian food ever. Our group of 6 had a fantastic meal consisting of a mixure of fish, beef, and chicken curries with lots of rice, garlic naan bread, and papadums. Very clean and efficient restaurant right in the middle of Woy Woy. We'll be back!

Best Indian on the coast. The food is delicious and arrives really quickly. BYO is a bonus. Run by a friendly family who are keen to make sure you are happy and have everything you need. Highly recommend!

Do Yourself A Favour

If you like great Indian food and excellent service then this is the place for you. I cannot speak highly enough of Nelson and the team, they are perfect hosts. We've been going there since they opened and it's remiss of me that I haven't gven them a review on here until now. I've recommended them many times to a whole range of people and everyone who's been has agreed wholeheartedly. I think over time I have tried everything on the menu and never been disappointed, so do yourself a favour if you're in the area. Thanks so much for being there for us Nelson and all of your staff.

Very much underrated

I am surprised that the last review of this restaurant is two years ago. However, it was only my 2nd visit. Joined our neighbours for their wedding anniversary. Reasonable busy for a Tuesday night. But the service, food and evening was outstanding. We shared starters samosas and onion barbies, both delicious. Our neighbours went for vegetarian dishes, whilst we shared a delicious chicken curry with rice plus Nan bread. Very well presented menu, delightful young lad took our orders and made sure we were happy. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous restaurant!

Tonight was our umpteenth visit, either to eat in or grab a takeaway. As ever, the people were lovely, the atmosphere welcoming and the food truly delicious! The menu is really authentic, filled with the essence of India! I cannot recommend them highly enough! Real value for money, authentic flavours and a truly heartfelt welcome! Book now! M
