We have been coming to Anchors Wharf for many years and have never had an average meal .We have used Urunga as a half way stop heading north and make a point of having dinner here .But very surprised by some reviews . I always...have 2 x Entrees as the mains are usually very large . My husband who usually has a good appetite struggles to finish an entree and a main meal. We recommend the Surf and Turf and the Garlic Seafood Mornay .All entrees are yummy . Being in the trade my husband and I both Highly recommend Anchors Wharf .More

A bit disappointed as they didn’t have my booking even though I called them 4 days prior, so we didn’t get our allocated table. It was very noisy and the music was way too loud. The food was pretty average.

We had lunch for my birthday at Anchors Wharf in Urunga. The outside of the building is a little tired and careworn. Inside, we sat on the deck right over the Kalang River. The sun was shining, the pelicans were paddling, the fish were swimming....It was a truely beautiful spot. I had the pork belly and my husband had the red emperor fish. Both dishes were delicious. We finished off sharing a piece of Mars bar cheesecake which was equally fantastic. The staff and service were friendly, helpful and efficient. I'm voting this one of my favourite birthday lunch places. Thank you Anchors Wharf, we will definitely be back for more.More

We are visiting the area and decided to go to the Anchors Wharf Cafe where we caught up with friends for breakfast. Very friendly staff and the service was great. Lovely breakfast and great location with a view over the river. We will be back.

We'd visited about 2 years ago so I was interested to see how things had progressed...or not. Standard Covid19 check in which is mandatory these days. Pretty off-hand staff who were not very friendly...we were not shown a specials menu or if there was wine...available (there was). Wife had fish and chips...golden snapper we were told. I decided to try 2 small entrees. We had 2 beers....served in glasses which was nice. Having ordered I was told that the duck pancakes were off...it happens I suppose. I substituted them with Thai fish cakes and a small offering of salt and pepper squid. The squid was frozen and I discovered remnants of cartilage in places. It was served with a huge portion of salad...on a large plate and with a small saucer of a green, sweet dipping sauce. I didn't much like the salad or the sauce. The fish cakes were home made with a zip and a chilli sauce....nice. The inevitable salad was present. Wife's fish was good but why can't restaurants serve good, crispy chips?! Like many places, these were soggy...you should always twice fry chips to get the crunch necessary. When I paid the waitress couldn't be bothered to wait for the payment receipt from the machine and walked away....there was no delay from the machine and I had to tear off the receipt and detach my bit....why? That's not good. Don't think we'll be going back unless they buck their ideas up a lot!More

My wife and I have been to Anchors Wharf over many years and have never been disappointed before. The service has gone down hill, not at all friendly as it used to be and the quality of the food has also gone down hill. The...owners need to take a good look at their staff, both in the kitchen and front of house.More

We went to anchors wharf for lunch after a walk on the nearby Urunga boardwalk. The service was excellent and very quick (we were served in 15 minutes despite the restaurant being at full capacity). The dishes were all delicious. I had the seafood Mornay...which was outstanding. Hubby had the grilled barramundi. The kids had kids menus burgers (which ended up being very nice and pretty much adult sizes). The portions are generous. The location is lovely right by the river. Strongly recommend!More

We have visited Anchors Wharf at Urunga for a number of years and after reading recent reviews were a bit reluctant to return. The covid check in was a bit messy but, this was caused by patrons not being familiar with the procedure rather than...a staff problem ! As always we found staff friendly and efficient. It was a Saturday lunch and, they were flat out ! The dishes we had were fine ( I had the Pork Belly which I would give 10 out of 10 !) The prices are comparable with other restaurants in the area and, generally this restaurant is better than some of the supposedly fine dining establishments in Port Macquarie. We live in another holiday town and would not travel three hours each way for food that we are not happy with .More
