Visited on a Sunday, and was lucky to get a table in the restaurant (it was packed), although I realised later I could have eaten in the club itself. Service was a bit patchy- no one came to take my order until prompted, and then the food arrived minutes later.... The meal was very tasty and other patrons were enjoying their meals too. A shame one of the regulars walked in and turned a tv on so they could view the Keno results. Given that this restaurant overlooks the lake, a lot more could be done with it, but the food was good and very reasonably priced. Plenty of seafood on offer.

Fresh, well prepared and presented food. Great service! Great outlook though interior a little ordinary…. Lacks flair…… the view and the food made up for it. Bravo!! My friend had the Blue Eye Cod with Baby Clams Thai Style and I asked if the Cod could be served as classic fish and chips!! Awesome!!

The Bay Restaurant in the Royal Motor Yacht Club would have to be the best restaurant within a club I have had the pleasure of dining in the Lake Macquarie area. Not the cheapest, but certainly the best value when you consider the ambience and quality of food served. The wine is reasonably priced and the small but well thought-out menu will satisfy most. Quiet, with a splendid view over Lake Macquarie it will cater for the discerning guest who doesn't quite want to spend a vast amount of money for iffy food and service. The menu is supplemented by a Specials Menu, which varies from day-to-day and can include Mulloway fillet from Nelson Bay, Beef Cheeks, Ocean Perch fillet or Lobster Mornay. We have been on several occasions for dinner and have never been disappointed, (unlike others on the other side of the Lake). The service is quiet and unpretentious, with food being brought to the table. I would recommend potential visitors to always book ahead, and this will guarantee a window table, although those in the centre still have a nice view.

We went there because the flyer outside the Royal motor yacht club said chefs choice of 4 dishes, so I expected it would be something interesting. It was schnitzel, fish and chips, vegetarian curry and something else not memorable. The food when it arrived was plentiful, well cooked and hot. As it was $20 per dish I expected it to be so. There were no recognisable brands on the wine list, and as the glasses of wine started at $9 per glass i opted for the cocktails at $14. They were good value. My partner didn't think it a great beer menu, however he did enjoy the beer he chose as it was cold and well poured. We noticed that the locals who were drinking there is too leave and go and eat at the local workers club instead of staying to eat there. We were 2 of atotal of 6 people, which I thought unusual in the first week of the school holidays. There was no atmosphere or any reason to stay, tv with sports on, a lovely fire but no comfy seats to sit near it in. Would possibly be nice sitting out on the balcony on a warm summers afternoon.

Location beautiful, Great Lake views. Staff in the restaurant very friendly. Chefs ? this is where the problem lies. I have dined here with my family several times because of the location. Scotch fillet disappointing, vegetarian meals under cooked, side dishes boring. Not sure if some of the meals are precooked they seem to lack flavour ? Sides with the main courses could be more creative and appetising. Compared to other restaurants in Toronto the food quality is poor and expensive. Hope meals will improve and be more competitively priced. The wine menu is extremely limited with poor choice in wine, surprising considering we live so close to the Hunter Valley. Look forward to better food and a better wine menu.

Had lunch with girlfriends on Friday 3rd May 2024 Expecting great food as advertised on website. I ordered pasta wit pumpkin, spinach and feta, in my dish was plain pasta sitting on a puréed sauce. The menu did not read as pasta with a puréed sauce. The purée tasted disgusting, I have never tasted anything as bad as this ! One girlfriend ordered the same dish and stated she could not eat it. I expressed my disappointment to the female waitress and the dish of purée was returned to the kitchen as was my friends puréed dish. One friend had fish and chips, the fish was overcooked and dry she could not eat the fish. This dish dish was not returned but should have been. The female waitress was rude and abrupt, shocking customer service from her. It was a Friday lunch the bar and dining areas were so very quiet, With zero ambiance. What is going on there ? We will definitely not be returning to the Club.

Only deep fried finger food provided and we + others allergic to vegetable oil so we went up to the dinning room to order a meal for 6.50 & got it at 7.10 pm. Husband had burger minus the cheese but couldn't even cut through the bread roll so left top ($24). I had Perch with chats (with eyes) & snow pees (not stringed) $35 (was not worth it).

My husband and are locals and he is a member of the club. With some free time on Tuesday evening we decided to go to the relatively new trivia and have a meal at the bistro. Arriving at 6pm for a 7 pm start we quickly ordered. The staff were friendly. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant area. In fact the whole club was very quiet. We decided to share spring rolls first which were probably frozen but quite nice. I ordered whiting fillets which unfortunately had been frozen. Right on the shores of Lake Macquarie seafood is easy to get. My husband ordered linguini with prawns and chorizo. Despite that there were very few people in the club his meal was cold. We wondered if it had been pre-prepared. Total price $85. Very disappointing. There were 4 teams at trivia, all arriving just before starting time, 18 people in total. No-one besides us ordered a meal. The trivia host was lovely. We were regulars at the club’s trivia in the past, pre Covid, which was very well supported and popular. Bookings were essential. The food was great and a huge draw card. Unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. No- one wants to go out for TV dinners. We can do better at home. Such a shame.

Visited for the first time over the weekend and decided almost immediately that this is to be our “spot” in Toronto after having moved to the area recently. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was enjoyable and the view of the lake is stunning. We arrived as guests and departed as new members. Well worth a visit.

First time visit for us and grateful for a table at very short notice. Setting and food were great but super friendly, efficient staff really made the evening for us.

Visited this restaurant yesterday. Has a great view over Lake Macquarie extending to views of Belmont in the distance. Very relaxed venue with a varied menu including daily specials.

Ordered 3 lunch specials and one bar snack. All were very stingy servings for the price. The fish was floury. It took almost an hour for the food to come out. Very disappointing.

Attended here for lunch during the week with a friend. There is a large room inside (large windows look over the water) which already had several large tables seated so, as it was a bit noisy and a beautiful day, we chose to sit outside on the balcony which is right over the water. The food was a good standard as well. The only issue I had was that there seemed to be an understaffing problem somewhere. There were only two food waiting staff (for about 50 people). I don't know if the kitchen was also behind but it took at least 45 minutes for our meals to arrive after we ordered. I thought this might have been because we had ordered just after the large groups inside, but when we ordered coffee, the same thing happened - the person who took the order warned me it would be a while - they obviously had a list of other things they needed to do first. I would still attend again because of the view and the food was actually fine. I would just want to make sure I had plenty of time.
