Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great place for breakfast ! On the morning we visited they were short staffed so the service was a little on the slow side but it was worth the wait. The escargot I had was exceptional and the granola was delicious. The coffee...was pretty good too! The view was an added bonus.More

Ordered a 'special! After around 40 minutes (they did apologise but still 15 minutes before food came) I received 6 whole prawns in a bucket on wooden board, 2 slices of bread, 3 butter pats and the aoli and a butter knife and no room...to dehead and devein the prawns. Oh I forgot there was a finger bowl. And the prawns weren't that fresh. Ever tried deveining prawns with a butter knife. The most time consuming prep for the dish wasn't done, I had to do it myself. And the dish was fae from cheap. And to top it off the organic juice stated it had 'less sugar!..I don't call 25.?g less sugar. I may as well had a coke. Only redeeming feature was the viewMore

A highlight from my visit to Tathra. The food is excellent in both quality, variety and imagination. The coffee is also excellent. The real attraction though is the location, atmosphere and above all the staff. Incredibly friendly, easy going and helpful, they make the place...feel like homeMore

We stopped by for morning tea. It was blowing a gale at the time and there was a note on the door to knock and they will let us in (due to the wind). Added to the charm. They have decked it out in furniture...appropriate to the old stores of the wharf, however there is also a lot of beautiful pottery by local artists on display for purchase. The staff were very friendly and there are a lot of artisan cakes on display. My partner had a very light escargot… or as the staff called it ‘sultana snail’. I chose a nice cardamom scroll. They were served very neatly. Paired perfectly with a lovely coffee… almond milk was even on offer!More

A delightful Earl Grey tea with a very light fresh danish pastry on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Also a Hot chocolate as against the cool hot chocolate served up in other places.

Slowest service imaginable and delivered with all the charm and warmth of a boarding school matron. Other than taking orders they could hardly care less about their customers. While the food all looked good if you want to wait less than 25 minutes for your...coffee and less than 40 minutes for heated-up preprepared food, then go elsewhere. This is a repeat experience for us. We gave them the benefit that perhaps last time was just a bad day but it seems this is their standard. If this business was operating in main street they would struggle to survive. Clearly, they rely on the view from the wharf to entice customers in.More

Only stopped for coffee. Sat next to the doorway overlooking the wharf. Didn’t wait long for our coffees to arrive which’s was surprising given the many negative reviews about the poor service. Coffee was ok but the view was awesome.

Rude and impolite. We arrived 3:30 so just 30’ before they close. We were rudely reminded to check in before we even put step in the business. It was apparently not enough since we were asked to show our phone screen to two different people...at which point we had enough and said so. That was not to the taste of the team and we were asked to leave which we happily did, given the friendliness of the welcome we received If you’re not comfortable having guests … stay closed !More

Had quite an unpleasant experience at the wharf this morning. Staff were a bit intense from the start. Lots of messing around to finally get seated. Ordered coffee and banana bread. Coffee took 30 mins to come, banana bread took 40! The place was only...half full so it really comes down to the pure disorganisation of the staff. Lots of shouting orders, not a lot getting done. Most of them didn’t look like they were doing much. A couple of young girls who were probably in training, weren’t very experienced. The food and coffee was very nice which was lucky as we would have left very very unhappy! Owners need to revise their management and staff and regain some organisation!!!More

Waiting 40 minutes for a cuppa is JUST. NOT. OKAY. The place wasn't even buzzing, it was not even half full. God only knows how long you might wait in peak Christmas holiday season. That meant 40 minutes of not being allowed to take our...masks off, as current rules require keeping them on until food or drink is brought to the table and being consumed. Sitting there sweating into the mask on a very warm and humid day, trying to talk with a friend through both our masks and struggling to hear each other clearly over the general background cafe noise, repeatedly saying "what, sorry? Can you repeat that?" for 40 minutes, was as irritating as hell. I really don't think I want to repeat this experience. Everything the staff do is slow. Not just "oh, relaxed rural / coastal vibe" kind of slow - REALLY slow. The food was fine, when we eventually got it, but the menu is quite limited. The location is lovely, but someone more together and organised and efficient needs to take over and run this place. I say this because extreme slowness is not a one-off problem, but a recurring issue.More

Insanely SSSSLOW. We were told 20 minutes for lunch baguettes, 45 minutes later...two young girls serving and looking like they were in training. One woman preparing and she looked way behind the 🎱. Staff were courteous but if the food was even fit for a...King I'd doubt that I'd return.More
