A group of us recently visited for a Sunday lunch. It was the June long-weekend and the place was jumping. The bistro has terrific views but a week out, it's 2 sittings were full. We were told that we could eat in the bar area or on the deck.
We arrived at 12.30 and were able to be seated in the very large bar area which was comfortable, warm, and had a nice friendly ambience. A new winter menu had been launched in May and food options looked good. Some good options too on the specials board.
Six of us had a mix of dishes from both the menu and the specials and all were good and plentiful. Some of the dishes were over the $30 mark so more restaurant prices than typical pub prices, but still good value we thought. Wine selection was good as were the ales. Despite the big crowd, meals were delivered in a reasonable time. We did happen to be there for the Sunday afternoon jazz band so that was an added bonus.
All in all, we stayed for hours and had a most enjoyable visit. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

We dined in the bistro twice and enjoyed it both times. Even though it was a quiet period for the hotel the bistro was well patronised both nights so if you are fussy about a particular table I’d suggest booking. The menu was extensive, the service prompt and friendly and we enjoyed our meals both nights.

We had a wonderful lunch at the Tathra Hotel. The food, wine, service and views were second to none. The menu had an Asian feel, with some traditional Aussie dishes as well. The hotel was meticulous in their restrictions around co-vid 19, with their concierge ensuring everyone signed in & the tables all appropriately distanced, & adhering to the limits of people allowed in the venue. Can’t wait to return!! Would definitely recommend.

Happily got to visit the Tathra Pub on two occasions this trip! And also got to have a leisurely lunch to boot. Very impressed with the Humpback Brewery on my 2019 visit, so had to have another paddle. The new Belgian Ale is a real winner!! On the Sunday after several hours on the sand sat down on the deck for Cajun Calamari & Salad with the wife going the Schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Both meals were superb and I made sure to pass this on to the super friendly serving staff, a real happy bunch! Good selection of craft beers from the bar and interesting to see the Brewery replaced the pokie room, a real winner by the owners I reckon. On a sunny day hard to beat this location & it's offerings.

The bistro here is awesome. Food brilliant and it has table service which is a big plus for a pub bistro. The menu is broad and varied in choices. Place has a slight Asian twist on some dishes.
I had the Himalayan lamb curry which came with freshly sliced chilli, cashews and coriander. My sons pork belly was also awesome 10/10. Portions very fair.
The hotel itself is quite beautiful as are the views so as an overall dining experience it is relaxed but very yum.
So far from any city but I am seriously impressed!

Our favorite local has sadly gone downhill of late. We went recently on two separate occasions and also organised a luncheon for a group of 30 in the hope that our overcooked, dry burger and wilted salad greens on the tough calamari salad was an aberration.
Sadly it wasn't. The general consensus from our large party was that the food generally was less than ordinary and had been carelessly cooked and/ or lacked freshness. Problems included a bland Vietnamese stew, wilted and soggy salad greens, dry hamburger, tasteless prawn curry and a generally lacklustre menu.
This is in stark contrast to the past innovative menu and specials boards and the generous, beautifully cooked meals we have enjoyed over the last year or so.
I do hope this improves because we need the Tathra pub to be our reliable local not just there to cash in on the tourist season with mediocre food. Service as always was fantastic.

We have previously enjoyed dining here but today was very disappointing . For a $53 surf and turf the steak was small, thin and very fatty. The pepper sauce was very salty also, almost like gravox from a packet. The other meal was acceptable although no salad dressing on the salad so We had to ask for this.
Restaurant wait staff non English speaking so communication was a little difficult also. Overstaffed and under serviced .
Upon leaving no one acknowledged us or asked how the lunch was. No customer service at all.
Reading other reviews it’s a mixed bag, we got the wrong day by the looks of it.

We visited this heritage listed beautiful pub for dinner early in the week. We were seated at the window overlooking an amazing ocean view-unlike any other pub view we’ve had!! We ordered wagyu rump steaks with chips, salad and a delicious, creamy mushroom sauce. Perfectly cooked steaks were devoured with gusto! Attentive, friendly service made this landmark in Tathra a must visit. A Beautiful space!

Really impressed with CoVid protocols when we stopped for a midweek lunch. Luckily found a table with great views to enjoy the excellent food. Shared the grilled fish and satays, which came with a really tasty satay sauce. It’s good when they state the fresh fish on the specials board. Enjoyed the ambience so much we had a second glass of local wine with the sticky date pudding.
Decor was particularly pleasant and service excellent. Despite being full, with one group of 20+, our meals came out quickly.
Didn’t have time to try the beers from the on-site micro brewery but this will ensure a return visit.

I ordered the 300g porterhouse which I asked to be served rare. The steak was so thinly cut that rare was all but impossible once the outside had been sealed. Moreover, the meat was grisly with a high proportion of selvage fat, in addition to which I have never had porterhouse with a bone in it before. In all, a poor quality serving that was certainly not worth the $40 paid for it.

The Tathra Hotel was the perfect location for our wedding reception. In the lead up, Lalu and the chefs were amazing in accommodating our ideas for the menu and dietary requirements. On the evening the staff were phenomenal and felt a part of our lovely event. The room was set up perfectly for us and the ease of coming and going to outside, bathrooms and the bar was magnificent. The fact there is accommodation upstairs as well made it an relaxing finish to the night. The rooms upstairs are beautiful and were a great place for the men to get ready for the wedding as well as for us to soak in the wonderful day afterwards. We would love to stay there again as the view from the balcony is lovely. We were made to eel welcome at all times and there were extra special touches that only the Tathra staff could be thanked for. All our guests commented on how amazing the food was and how much of it there was. We cannot recommend the Tathra Hotel and it's team highly enough.

We are a group of 8 friends who had booked the Tathra Hotel for lunch last Thursday (7/4/22). We were travelling from Kiama to Merimbula for our annual golfing break, however due to the very poor weather on the morning we decided to leave later and we’re forced to cancel our booking.
On Saturday (9/4) we decided to have lunch there the following day so I phoned and spoke with Lalu who was most obliging and booked us in. Having been to the Hotel previously, I was aware of the seating arrangements and asked if we could have a table overlooking the ocean. Lalu said he would see what he could arrange.
When we arrived we were shown to what we considered the best table in the Hotel. A great start. Between the 8 of us we ordered a variety of meals (5 or 6 different dishes) and everyone of us was absolutely delighted with our choices. The meals were large, the food fresh and well cooked, and presented beautifully. A few of the group even managed to squeeze in dessert and they were also fantastic.
6 of the group had not been to, or eaten there previously and all left singing it’s praises and vowing to return as soon as possible.
A huge thanks to Lalu and his friendly and efficient staff, both in the kitchen and in the restaurant.

We decided to have lunch here on a whim, so glad we did. The Oysters were so fresh and locally sourced. The Mussels were divine and the Chicken Parma so light and tender. Together with a local beer and glass of wine with a light breeze on the covered deck - a perfect meal was had. Staff were friendly and efficient - great atmosphere and location. A must do if in Tathra.

We had been to the Tathra hotel a number of years ago and were pleasantly surprised to find the renovated and upgraded hotel still served wonderful food with friendly service. It’s such a beautiful pub with breathtaking views over the ocean. We opted for fish & chips, which was flake that day, and the squid special. The squid was grilled with a spice rub and served with salsa verde. Both meals were so good and the seafood was obviously fresh. The side salads were ample and fresh. The service was great and the whole place is very comfortable and clean. Really worth a visit for a long, lazy lunch with amazing views. There is a playground below the main balcony which looked great if you happened to be travelling with kids.
