Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped in for morning tea. The bakery is large and nicely presented. It was quite busy but there were lots of staff and they were quite welcoming and efficient. The is a huge range of fresh bread and bread rolls, pies and pastries as well as lots of different cakes and slices. At the other end there are lots of fresh salad rolls, subs and sandwiches all pre-made and looking very fresh. We ordered coffee and a caramel and nut slice to share. There is seating both inside and out. We sat outside and really enjoyed the slice and the coffee was excellent.

Driven past this place yesterday and had to stop for a pie today. Very decent sized pies with plenty of quality filling. We had plain meat, chunky pepper steak and curry pies; 6 all up and they were delicious!

Central meeting place for friends for light breakfast and coffee. This place just buzzes, quite busy and crowded. They obey all covid protocols and the service is supurb. Orders taken and delivered to us at footpath tables. Great coffee and egg and bacon rolls. Friendly and efficient staff. They have a range of pies, sandwiches etc that would satisfy everyone, as we discovered on previous visits. Great place

Wanted a salad roll with no tomato as I am allergic to them. They are all pre-made and they refused to make one without tomato. Before Covid they use to make them fresh as you waited. Was a lot better back then. The staff are very unfriendly.

I love this cafe but when a staff member enabled a queue jumper I was very disappointed. I called him on it and she still served him. There were two people before him but he lorded it over us and she served him. Very sad to have aggressive male behaviour enabled. He should have been made to wait his turn. Sad stuff at Xmas.

This is a great stopover. Their pies and other food is really great & their coffee is also good. Great selection of various food options, We were able to find something for our fussy eaters.

Wide range of cakes and sandwiches, reasonably priced. Gluten free options available too. A convenient stop if coming from Sydney.

We stopped here as we were passing by and we needed a coffee. Bigger than I expected. Quite a busy little place, so getting in quick and early might be an idea. Bacon and egg roll and a foccacia of chicken and tomato were delicious. Very lovely clean place

On the corner of Nelson Bay road and Richardson road at Salt Ash, Saxbys began as a simple bakery, with fresh bread every morning. Over time they have expanded their business to include made to order sandwiches, coffee etc and a wide selection of pies and sausage rolls, all of which are excellent.

Driving up the north coast after staying in Nelsons Bay we decided to have brunch at Saxbys Bakery. There was a steady flow of customers and we ordered two pies a coffee and a chocolate milk shake. The pies were served first and it took a while for the coffee to be made. So far all was going well. The pies were nice as was the coffee. A bit later we were callec to the counter to collect the chocolate milk shake. This was in a milk shake container with a hole in the bottom. As this was the last milk shake container they use this and put the container into an inecream container. Well it was filling fast so we returned it and they tipped this into two coffee cups. Of course they apologised but this was an unexpected twist to eating there. They have tables inside and outside but its not table service. You collect the items from the counter. Going to try Mcdonalds next time we are there.

Would recommend coming here for the pies and great food and drinks. But the service was disappointing. Was slow and the staff were really rude and looked like they didn’t want to be there. Nothing is worst then bad customer service

Have been a customer of this shop for many years but today 20-7-18 my partner asked for a tomatoe and cheese sandwich so I could take some medication and asked the staff at 3 pm and was rudely told Nah with no chance of explaining why she needed it , I understand they close the sandwich bar which was on display still but the rudeness and abruptness was not called for so hope your staff get a better attitude and may your doors stay open but not getting any money of mine again
