The food was excellent, in terms of freshness, taste and presentation. Between two waitresses I encountered, the service was as different as chalk from cheese. One couldn't do enough for us, prompting me to take the unusual step of handing her a $note, and telling...her to put it in her pocket. I paid a separate tip when I paid for our meal. The other asked us, are you finished, when we were both still eating, and asked me again when my partner had finished her dish, but I very noticeably had not. On that second time, I askeqd to see the desert menu. She gave us a card with deserts on it, and after a quick glance through I said: I thought that the main menu had a Cappuccino Cheese Cake on it. I don't think so, she replied, and walked away. When she subsequently collected my plate, she also picked up a Mocktail, that I was still drinking. The other waitress had no problem in to serve us the desert we wished to have. You might be thinking that the waitress who wanted to move us along thought that we had outstayed our welcome, but there were tables available at the time, and we are reasonably quick diners.More

Western Sydney bombed out completely, so we hit the Hume south. The signs said food and sleep in Picton. No beds by 8pm apparently 😂 Vaby’s was still open and so hospitable. The tap craft beer and seafood platter hit the spot magically. The staff...are perfect. Still here sipping wine and wondering whether we should delay our trip to eat here again. Awesome!More

My friend and I both had pretty bad mains, after sharing a starter of jalapeño poppers that where still frozen in the middle and looked like they came from Coles. I had a pretty nice steak that was smothered in a bottled sauce, with horrible...deep fried potatoes and soggy veg. My friend had a pretty average pork belly, overly salty and rubbery cracklings. The mash tasted like it was made from potato flakes and when we asked if they where fresh the waitress said “I’m not sure, maybe, I think so?”. Super disappointing meal and quite frankly I’m surprised at all the positive reviews. Maybe it was just a one off.More

Three of us booked in for seafood lunches, we were first to arrive at noon and they had very loud modern "music" so I asked if they could change their Spotify selection she asked what & I quickly said The Beatles as that was the...first thing that came to mind. We heard 1 song and then she turned it so far down we couldn't hear anything, I asked if she could turn it up a bit but nothing happened. I thought maybe only young people go to Vabys abut when it started filling up around 1pm I noticed most of the customers were "baby boomers" the owners need to look into this as my brother said he wouldn't be going back, we always get the Seafood Platter plus one other dish plus two lots of Brushetta which was good but we all agreed it needed more garlic - which is to our taste. Best part of the meal was the dessert sticky date pudding- YUM!More

Dinner tonight, We were welcomed and advised a table had just been set for us by the fire, so appreciated after coming in from a windy cold outdoors. The service was attentive the food was enjoyable and our lovely waitress patiently and with exceptional knowledge...answered my husband's questions about the beautiful old cheese factory building that this gem of a restaurant is housed in. We can't believe we hadn't been before and will be most definitely be going again. Thanks Vabys for an absolutely enjoyable night.More

Had a takeaway dinner on Friday night from Dom and the crew, It had to be a takeaway because of the regulations, The meal was delicious as always, Potato skins for entree, Pulled pork nachos for me and Chicken Camarao for the wife with a...Passionfruit, Coconut Mousse for dessert. Absolutely wonderful all that was missing was the atmosphere of the resturant. Hopefully they are able to keep going until the virus has passed and we can all get back to normal. If you are able please support this local business during this trying time.More

Had a really nice dinner at Vabys. I had fettuccine marinara and my wife had battered flathead. Both meals were really nice and didn't take too long. I had booked for 7.45 and when we arrived my table wasn't quite ready. They dont have a...greeter area so just standing there near the door to be seated, took about 5 mins for someone to talk to us. When they did talk to ua and tell there was a delay, they suggested a drink by the bar. We lined up at the bar, and just before being served we got told our table was ready and they would take our drink orders at our table. When we sat they took drinks and entre order, took about 10mins for the drinks to arrive, but everything else seemed to come in reasonable time. Overall good experience.in spite of service issues. I will try this restaurant again, hoping the service gets better.More

The service and food were very good with the meals coming out on time and great service. The only down side would be the dimly lit dining areas which made it hard to read the menu, however it is well priced as we enjoyed ourselves.
