Farmgate has become our go to local restaurant and is, in our opinion, one of the best restaurants in the region.
It was a farmhouse dinner - the food was “real”, generous portions, beautifully prepared and presented and served by warm friendly hosts. The atmosphere is alive (sometimes a little rowdy, but that’s what you have when people are enjoying themselves!).
Go there - see for yourself - you’ll definitely be back!

What a fantastic find. So many great dishes made choosing deliciously difficult. We were a large group but everyone was happy with their choices especially the 2 year old who loved the puzzles provided.

We didn't expect to find this rare gem during our stopover in Nowra.
The welcome is very friendly with a few words in French.
The service as a whole will be faultless throughout the dinner.
The setting is sought after and really very pleasant.
But when you come to a restaurant, the most important thing remains on the plate and we were not disappointed at all. The pizza was good, but the swordfish was succulent (photo) all accompanied by a good bottle of local chardonnay. The desserts are perfect with a super good apple crumble and a very successful crème brûlée.

I have dined here 5 or 6 times now and have found the food and service consistently excellent. I love the pate (such a generous serve) and the pork belly is beautifully cooked. I enjoyed the lobster bisque and pasta meal, especially when it was with ravioli. The crème brûlée is far and away the best I have ever had. I have never tasted any of their other desserts and probably never will as the brûlée is SO good. The apricot bread and butter pudding gets rave reviews from friends. I love dining here! My only suggestion for improvement is to teach the younger members of the waitstaff to not clear plates until everyone at the table is finished. When that is the only suggestion for improvement, it is obvious that this high quality restaurant is doing lots right!

3 generation gathering for Easter with 2 picky eaters. Everyone enjoyed every aspect of the meal. Pork and chicken Terrine, serving of trio of dips beetroot ,carrot and Hommus, need more bread and bowl of sweet potato fries welcomed. All mains were enjoyed ranging from Pork rib special with charred corn, Schnitzels with and without porcini sauce, spaghetti bola Blackfish special and Ravioli with prawns.Then wait there were servings of Chocolate cake,apple crumble ,short black or sticky date pudding. You have to book .Its best to book the day before or online bu the online booking on the day stops early. They need this information to make sure the tables are the right size for the crowd coming. You can always have a pizza to go as you leave. Otherwise keep ringing during working hours till they get a chance to answer the phone. All the staff are extremely helpful

This restaurant is all about good food and hospitality. The room was clean and spacious with seating outside. The welcome was underwhelming by a couple of the staff, as though we were imposing upon them, although there was one lady who was quite warm. The prawn and scallop ravioli was way too al dente and the filling could have been anything. The lobster sauce was absolutely delicious though. The spaghetti dish was ok. The apricot bread pudding was delicious. A few more tweaks and a clearer understanding of customer service could help this restaurant shine.

This recently renovated and launched Mod Oz restaurant in a quiet street in Nowra, close to the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre and opposite a park is a total delight. We went as a group of six friends , and every dish we ordered was perfection. Also most come with accompanying vegetables beautifully cooked. We sat outside and what bliss to find a restaurant where it is so quiet on the covered verandah that you can hear each other talk. When we were choosing our deserts the Maître De ( the wife of the chef) told us that she fell in love with her Chef Husband for his Créme Brûlée and married him for his Apricot Pudding. On that recommendation a husband and wife in our party ordered a serve of each. Afterwards they too declared their undying love for the chef. I’m sure Farmgate will be a real destination in the Shoalhaven….. Good Food Awards almost certainly ! And I forgot to mention the delightful waitstaff. Every waiter who attended us was happy, enthusiastic and knowledgeable which really helped to make it a fun night. Highly recommended.

It was a pure delight to revisit the team who made travelling to Kangaroo Valley a real delight and food destination! Some of the old classics (lamb cutlets to die for) are present, but it will be interesting to see how this wonderful ambience evolves with some new dishes, and opportunities afforded by a pizza oven.
Always fresh and local, with a broad selection of dishes and wines. A remarkable experience which will undoubtedly improve as the new team settles!

Thank you Farmgate for the amazing Christmas Lunch. My mum and dad are 85 and 82 and can’t leave home anymore and so needed a wholesome Christmas lunch organised. The chicken roullard was moist and yummy, ham fresh and pork belly to die for. The tiramisu was a family favorite. We will do it again next year and so much food left over for dinner!!!

We loved our visit to Farmgate Restaurant. Staff were attentive, polite, knowledgeable and efficient and the food was SENSATIONAL. Beautifully presented, absolutely mouthwateringly delicious, lots of compliments from my companions. Wide menu choice with daily specials. Lovely atmosphere, great vibe. Would love to return next time we're in town. Highly recommend a visit to this great establishment.

We needed a calm delicious Sunday lunch. Greeted with a wonderful array of starters, mains and desserts by fantastic friendly servers. I had the perfect sirloin steak with cafe de Paris butter, whilst my partner thoroughly the roast of the day - beef with the traditional trimmings. Outstanding desserts of crème brûlée and sticky date pudding followed. Service was friendly, efficient and very attentive.
Looking around other diners were also enjoying a very diverse range of offerings including pizza and burgers.
For such a new restaurant amazing!

We really enjoyed our dinner. The staff were welcoming and friendly as well as efficient. The food was well presented and delicious. The apricot bread pudding was the best dessert we've eaten in years. It's a stylish restaurant with stylish food.

My husband and I, along with two friends, went to Farmgate for dinner last week. Farmgate has only recently opened and so we wanted to try it out.
What a lovely surprise! After having a cocktail at the bar, we sat outside on the verandah, with views across to the leafy park and lake. It was perfect!
The staff were very friendly and we could not fault the food in any way… from entree to dessert, everything was delicious!
The prices were very reasonably and the service was excellent. We will definitely be returning and could recommend it. The other good thing is that they’re open on Sunday and Monday night, when most other restaurants are closed, so it’s a win win for the locals. Congratulations to the owners, chef and staff on a great job and best wishes for the future.

This restaurant is amazing. The people are so friendly and the food is amazing. There’s always something for everyone and the food has never let down. The location and restaurant is also amazing and is a beautiful spot for dinner with the family. I have been at farmgate multiple times and plan to go a lot more. I recommend.
