Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took over an hour for 2 mains ( chicken schnitzel and salmon fillet) and garlic bread to come out. We noticed many customers who were at the restaurant before us, had their food come late - can see a few went up to enquire on...when their food will be ready. Bigger groups having some served before others and noticed one group had a couple of people ended up asking for their food to be bagged as they had enough of hanging around given some members in their party had finished their meal! Must admit, the hour waiting for our food gave us lots of time to observe the behaviours and emotions of guests due to food being delayed! When our food finally came, the food was well presented and was actually very well cooked. I wouldn’t say it was worth the wait but at least food was nice! The sad thing was, they were wanting to start wiping down tables etc so I felt that they really wanted us to hurry up our meal and leave! So we scoffed up our food in 25 mins and left despite waiting just over an hour for our food to arrive! We just had to laugh and joke about our experience including being entertained by watching annoyed customers! 🤣More

We have been regulars at The Porterhouse Bistro for years and always thought of it as “our local”. However, the new management have managed to convince me to never go back after last night. Poorly cooked food, high prices, huge hike in alcohol cost, bistro...now same room as bar, food has to be ordered in the bar, … need I go on. If you liked the Porterhouse Bistro, then like me you will need to find somewhere else.More

My lunch yesterday was very good until near the end when I saw this slimy slug, over 1cm long, slither out of the remains of my salad. Now I know what the black dots I noticed earlier on the leaves were. I took my plate...to the counter and showed a staff member. She said “sorry - they mustn’t have washed the salad leaves”. I can confirm they didn’t because the leaves weren’t wet. They never have been when I have eaten there previously. The appropriate customer service response would have been to offer a refund or a complimentary dessert. Neither was offered. Very disappointing. I won’t be returning and I’m sure my friends who have seen this photo won’t be either. 👎🏻More

I'm not sure if this food is supposed to be fancy or even if I'm supposed to see this as normal pricing in the highlands but it was average. I got a smoked chicken special that didn't seem smoked and came with firm beans that...did have a smoky southern flavour as described, plus a lot of salad, but generally small and basic for $25. The $18 kofte was much smaller. The dining room can get very noisy and the narrow gap between our table and a pillar turned out to be the main thoroughfare, which wasn't pleasant. The bar doesn't have any real outdoor space but a few decent beers at good prices and good service.More

We enjoy Tom Porter's bistro better than any other in the Southern Highlands and visit for any family celebrations. The food is excellent and comes in large servings. The drinks come at a reasonable price and the service is very good - Get's busy at...the weekend - Pays to bookMore

We happened upon the bistro and had a wonderful lunch. My wife had the flathead while I had the rump steak. Both meals were excellent. Totally recommend

In these covid times, you never know quite how things will play out. Anyway, we booked a table and got one right in front of the fire. Then not long after ordering, out came our food - salt and pepper squid, and a vegie salad....Very tasty. We followed that up with the pudding. All up it was very satisfying.More

This venue never fails. Great pub food in a bistro(order at the counter) setting. It works well, and is not slow. Wines at bottle shop prices means you can enjoy a really good wine at bottlo prices. Staff are very friendly and tap beer is exceptional.

Great food here and solid vegetarian options. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good. Perhaps a vegan option on the menu would be good.
