Amazing location and view with friendly, extremely knowledgeable staff. Brilliant mussels but the fish pie was an overheated 1960s mornay and the dessert tasteless. The shock of the day was the unasked for home made 1cm caramel squares which were delicious but for which we...More

We had an enjoyable dinner at Bannisters and stayed at the accommodation overnight. This is our second meal at Bannisters about 5 years apart. In reviewing the restaurant cost has to be factored in as our meal and drinks overall set us back $360. We...More

I wonder (?) if staff at this establishment do respond when patron express disappointment? Makes one doubly dissatisfied if there is no response! Bill Farrell: (07792565360)

Where did you stay? I am a bit confused as to where the restaurant is in relation to accommodation. What's difference between Bannisters by the Sea and Bannisters Pavillon? We will be visiting from Melbourne (via Sydney) so want to stay somewhere to walk to Rick Stein restaurant. Thanks ;)

I agree with all the answers above. I don't think it is a place for dogs. But ringing Bannisters direct will get you the answers you need.

Description
Our restaurant is a reflection of Rick's passion for seafood and the coastal lifestyle which he has enjoyed for most of his life. As he says: "nothing is so exhilarating as fresh fish, simply cooked". He believes that fresh seafood should speak for itself. While he enjoys occasional fine dining, his food is much more about what he really likes to eat: a plate of Clyde River oysters, a pot of Illawarra prawns with mayonnaise, a mound of spanner crab, a slice of blue eye or a perfectly grilled sand whiting. We like our service to be informal but observant and enjoy employing local people who may lack the total polish of fine dining restaurants, but who more than make up for it with a genuine welcome.Peter Bacon, General Manager
