Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing food, good wines, great service. Out does its self for a coastal town. Would be at home in any fine dining setting in the metro areas. Wish there were more like this pace.

Fantastic restaurant with great views over Merimbula Lake. Staff were very accomodating and squeezed us in. Service was excellent. Food beautifully presented and delicious. Had 3 courses because everything was so tasty. Large wine list. Beautiful evening and highly recommended if staying in the area.

We stopped here with a tour off of the Celebrity Edge and had about an hour to bum around the town. We were so excited to find this amazing waterside, open air place! Fiona immediately welcomed us and ushered us to a primo two top...table by the open windows. We were concerned that we wouldn’t have enough time to grab some drinks and a bite to eat, but she assured us that we had plenty of time. We ordered a couple glasses of local wine (Breakfast Creek Verdelho and Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc) which she swiftly brought to the table. We perused the menu and opted to share a barbecue shrimp appetizer. The appetizer came out quickly and was delivered with a smile by Chef Gavin. It was absolutely beautifully presented and the flavors matched the lovely presentation! It was a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, not to mention the shrimp were perfectly cooked. We were able to take in the amazing view of the water and enjoy our wine and beautiful snack! Highly recommend! We got dropped off at the visitor’s center (with about 40 other cruise passengers) and everyone with us converged on the closest restaurants/shops. This was literally a 3-4 minute longer walk down the street. We avoided the crowds, but more importantly the experience overall was wonderful (food, host, chef and ambiance)!More

The service is always outstanding. The view is awesome. The atmosphere fun and welcoming. The food OMG to die for. Fiona also makes the best Espresso Martini. I had lobster-which I have avoided lately and it is usually frozen ,thawed and tastes like a mouth...full of of soggy cotton wool. This was an exquisite blend of flavours and I could taste the lobster and it has the texture I expect. It was my dish of the day. MM but then there was that saffron cream sauce on the fish and the desert … too hard to choose . Dont miss this if you are in town. Gavin and Fiona do a wonderful job.More

Outstanding! Every time we visit the food is exceptional and the staff attentive and friendly. Chef Gavin and Fiona (owners) are fantastic people, excellent business owners and genuinely lovely people who appreciate everyone who walks through the door. Kind, thoughtful and so friendly. They really...are the real MVPs of Merimbula. The food is so good and you won't find fresher seafood! Cannot recommend Tidal more highly! Definitely need to put it on your to do list. Feb 2024 This little slice of Merimbula heaven is a must for anyone visiting the area. Mum lives here and I visit and each time we go to Tidal. Always consistent with service, atmosphere, dining, cleanliness and the food. Honestly shut up and take my Money! The Chef not only cares about the food but always comes out to see his diners and Fi who runs front of house is an amazing lady who also really wants everyone to have a great experience. All the 5 star reviews for Tidal. Believe them. Every. Single. One! Great place. Great team. Great experienceMore

One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve visited. Fresh local (Merimbula and Narooma) and imported (eg Sydney Rock lobster) seafood. Very friendly staff. Standard of seafood dishes excellent. Also French cuisine. All good.

This restaurant could be great, but it’s lacking something in its atmosphere which is hard to define, mirrored however in the food served which could be exceptional but which is a little bland. Eg. The fish of the day with a beurre blanc needed a...lot more golden shallots in its wine refuction to give it character and the various purees which added colour to the plate did not add anything to the taste.More

Excellent food, great service. Loved every dish - seafood was cooked to perfection. Chocolate mousse was to die for. Squid and oysters fresh and local. Orange roughy, prawn and sauce all fabulous. Bit more flavour or a sauce to add to the sides (but they...were all cooked perfectly!) was the only very minor improvement, everything else was 11/10More

We returned to this restaurant and found it just as good as the last time we ate there. The food is fabulous, imaginative, and plentiful.. Service is great and the tables nicely spaced out. It is a great example of fine dining in Merimbula.
