Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our friends from Canberra took us out for lunch as a treat. My friend ordered the Crayfish mornay special and I ordered the crayfish in garlic butter. The meals were tiny and the crayfish was cooked to rubbery. I’ve eaten prawns 100% bigger and more...tasty from a fish and chip shop. Both meals were served with greasy thin chips and a small side salad for $65 each. My partner ordered the spicy duck which was also overcooked and tough. The wait staff were indifferent and rude with a “couldn’t care less attitude” So disappointed and feeling totally ripped off as well as embarrassedMore

We had the best New Year’s Eve dinner at the Wharf, impeccable service, magnificent food, despite the crowds, attended the special event and unforgettable views and atmosphere - well done to the whole team. Best holiday memories ever.

We stopped for coffee and cake which were both delicious. Restaurant is lovely with great views looking over the water and staff were efficient and friendly. At $25 per adult and $17 per child be advised that the Aquarium is small, dated, signage needs replacing...and very overpriced, $10 would be sufficient.More

Headed here for morning coffee and we’re very pleased we did-lovely spot to sit on the deck and look across the bay to the town. Great coffee and fabulous scones-egg and bacon rolls were pretty good too! The best part though was the friendly and...helpful staff-quick to welcome us and have a joke-make sure you visit!More

A little slow to start with service (would have been a 5 if they had staffed adequately a little earlier) Service then was excellent along with a delicious Seaford lunch. Loved that they accommodated entree to main. Great view and location- worth the drive

Very slow service. Over priced for the quality of meal. The view was nice. Didn't bother to even try the aquarium due to the poor service of the restaurant (think we dodged another expensive bullet there) Scallops were small and not a good flavour combo....Fish of the day salmon was over cooked to mush. 3 calamari rings for the kids meal.More

An amazing experience with the aquarium visit during the day and a wonderful seafood platter with drinks in the evening. Anthony and his staff were sensational. We will be back again.

I was ready to give this restaurant the thumbs down considering we had waited some time to be even asked if we wanted a drink let alone have someone take our order BUT eventually I received my wine and our order was taken. I do...have to say also that it seemed that everyone who was coming for lunch today decided to arrive at the same time which doesn’t help the staff. Bear in mind that this restaurant has a menu which offers 2 courses or 3 courses, so it is a good idea to order the entire meal. . Our food arrived and it was brilliant, the flavours were pretty spot on, mine probably need a tad more seasoning but once that was added I couldn’t fault the dish. My husband had the Seafood Marinara in which he asked for the addition of prawns, but it did have half a Moreton bay bug, half a crab, calamari and pippis, he didn’t share, and I must say it looked delicious. I chose the Barramundi with Prawns which also hit the mark, although didn’t I just say it did need for me a tad more seasoning. Another problem management has is staffing, the need for senior staff who can take and deliver alcoholic beverages is a problem. Come on locals there must be someone out there who wants a job! My compliments to the staff and the owners of this establishment who are doing their best in todays circumstances to deliver the best service and food they can.More

On our East Coast getaway I had ear marked this restaurant as a place to go. It was beautiful and I’m glad we went. Food was great and the staff were fantastic. If your lucky you might even get a whale swim bye the wharf.

How anyone could knock this place, the food, the service, the ambience, the views and the staff is beyond me and says an awful lot more about them than it does about the restaurant! We have been going several times a year for over eight...years and in that time have had two bad experiences that were IMMEDIATELY fixed upon request. Went again today and have come away with a great feeling because the whole thing from the welcome through to coffee was superb. If you want a great experience at very fair prices then choose The Wharf - if you want to whinge and complain stay with Maccas cause that's where you belong!More

We visited here recently and had a great time. The aquarium was amazing, added to by the knowledge and passion of the staff, and the lunch afterwards was surprisingly good.Only downside were the scallops which were really tiny. We were treated afterwards to a dolphin...circus in the bay. Very enjoyableMore

A watermelon cocktail was so sweet it was either a premix or badly mixed; scallop entree had cold cauliflower purée (ugh) theoretically had chorizo (where was that?) and scallops like erasers. Kingfish main- inedible prawns - so overcooked I couldn’t tell if the skin was...on or off with dry chewy kingfish. The squid entree was ok, the seafood linguine stodgy and overcooked. Duck fat potatoes tasted like they’d been cooked yesterday and reheated. Service by lovely people but was just fair. With a coffee this lot cost an eye watering $150. It’s criminal what they do to seafood at this place. Would rather have had a sandwich.More

First time for a meal at this establishment. There are not that many good restaurants in the local area so we were looking forward to the promise of a lovely lunch, according the menu on their website. Two courses for $60 or three for $75...plus drinks sounds reasonable. I chose an entree of 'duck confit' dressed, with crouton, and out came three grey poo shaped logs on a simple crouton with a seafood looking sauce. Unappealing to the eye and nondescript on the palate. No flavour at all; where was the duck? Fish and Chips for my friend, good chips. He had Affagato as dessert and enjoyed. I chose lamb as a main. I cannot understand why restaurants in this rural area, where sheep breeding is not uncommon, cannot source good lamb?! Again, tasteless lamb. I heard a customer ask what twas the fish of the day - Ling. Ling?? This is supposed to be a "seafood" specialty restaurant?? Really, try harder Merimbula Wharf Restaurant! ...what a pity Hugh and Renee don't own this place.More

Location overlooking the active fishing wharf and ocean is a draw card. Service excellent We both enjoyed the stuffed zucchini flowers for entrees and a steak. My seafood fettuccine was very generous with the seafood but maybe the base could have been stronger. Good wine...menu. Lovely casual atmosphere especially on a sunny day.More

Went on Easter Sunday with family and had an excellent lunch. Great views, great food and fantastic wine list. Being Easter and a really windy day the restaurant was super busy, the staff were all welcoming and efficient and we had a relaxing ambient afternoon.
