During winter, lots of places to eat are closed. So is this one...sort of. You can wander in during the morning and almost whenever, and buy beautiful food and amazingly cooked bread. Friday and Saturday nights are full on for dinner and it is well...cooked by a Chef who knows what he is doing although he needs to perhaps brush up on ASIAN food. Anything he cooks however, is delicious.More

We were here often over our stay on the island. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and takeaway, so had a good sample of the menus on offer. The breakfasts were always fresh and well presented, the take away salad rolls and fresh baked bread were...also beautiful. The dinner atmosphere was made lovely by all the lighting and fire features. All meals were of a high standard, with little room for disappointment. This was extra pleasing as there aren't many choices on the island and quality could easily slip. However, we were very impressed with each meal, which was served as though they had more competition for diners than they actually do. A great experience! Thank you!More

The food is so good at the Anchorage we went five times during our seven day stay. Dinner was exceptional especially the fresh local fish. The dinner menu changes daily with prices no different to Sydney restaurants of a similar caliber. Breakfast and lunch did...not disappoint. Need to book to ensure a table.More

This is the only restaurant on the island that is open every night. It is located “in town centre”, which consists of a handful of stores. It has a great atmosphere with ferry lights and indoor fire. We enjoyed dinner here twice during our stay,...as well as a few coffees. The staff are friendly and the food is good. This restaurant is a little more expensive. They also has a bakery which makes the best sour dough bread.More

Given how 'quiet' the island is, it was a little surprising to find such an imaginative menu, good service and ambience. A very pleasurable dining experience for sure (but pricey - because everything is expensive in the island when it has to be shipped in...from the mainland, literally - by ship, so add 20% or more to your mainland expectations).More

This is a lovely cafe to stop for a quick break while exploring the island. The menu is extensive however I only tried the pastries. The fresh muffins are huge and so tasty, with great flavours like banana choc and strawberry and white choc. The...sponge cake is also delicious and huge, and hits the spot if you need a sweet treat.More

The anchorage is a bit of a central spot for island food, we had dinner a couple of nights and lunches as well. It is also the bakery so very useful. Our meals at the anchorage were all very good, staff very friendly and the...place is always buzzing. The only drawbacks might be out of the restaurant's control, Lord Howe's restaurants seem to have a bit of a limited wine list, apparently that is because they are obliged to buy only from the LHI board and they have a limited range of wines they bring over ?? LHI board probably could do better on this given the tourists the island attracts. .More

We ate at the Anchorage twice in 6 days and had coffee and lunch there a couple of times. Great food, the lamb cutlets were just so tender and the grilled kingfish was delicious.

The coffee and muffins are beautiful and huge. But it beggars belief that this place can charge what they do because of .....Sullen and unfriendly staff, I’d go so far as to say customers are unwelcome. The food at times was tepid, if you’re outside...you’re forgotten no water offers or check ins. Napkins and cutlery (a central holder in the middle of the table) are unchanged from one table sitting to next - we’re in covid times!! Crockery twice today was chipped - artefact for subpar in my book. This is a restaurant that charges $38-55 for a main. Sad to see a place come to such mediocrity because when it first opened it was lovely.More
