This is our second trip to Lord Howe Island. We were delighted to find a Vietnamese restaurant as I have been to Vietnam three times and found it all wonderful. The first evening we went was really lovely so we returned the following week. Thank you for a top quality meal. I had the spring rolls both visits. YUM! The beef was beautifully cooked, fluffy rice and lots of vegetables. My husband had the pancake full of prawns and chicken which he loved. Previous unkind reviews may have come from people who may not appreciate/realise that food on the island is expensive given the overheads of getting it out to the island. The ship only comes once a fortnight, and may be, albeit rarely, delayed by another 2 weeks. LHI is 2 hours flying time off the NSW coast so the logistics of any delivery are incredible. If anything has to come by plane then the prices rise. At no point in either of our trips have any of the restaurants produced anything other than top quality. If you aren't prepared to pay over the normal odds then LHI is not your destination! Miss Saigon, please keep up your amazing hard work! All good wishes to you all, Becky xo

During the winter months on LHI there is a fairly limited choice of restaurants and we tried them all. Miss Saigon is DEFINITELY the best! Alfresco style seating on the verandah (if it's not too cold) and a lovely calming ambience with a combustion stove fireplace inside.Service from the owners was very dignified and polite and the meal choices were very good considering there were very few guests on the rainy night we visited. We shared two large spring rolls as an entree which was more than adequate and very tasty. For mains we had the Crispy Noodle Prawn & Chicken Combination and the Shakey Beef - both were delicious and good sized servings which left little room for dessert! Decor is simple and understated and very peaceful and inviting. We thought the value for money was quite good. We paid about the same here as we had at the Bowling Club and a bit less than we did a couple of nights earlier at the Anchorage. Neither is in the same class as Miss Saigon.

We ate at Miss Saigon twice during our stay so got to try most of the menu. It’s a home-based restaurant, staffed by family, on the relaxed veranda of their home. The young Vietnamese chef takes great pleasure in her dishes, making her own sauces and kimchi, and they are served with love by her mother-in-law. The dishes are mostly Vietnamese and very authentic. We really enjoyed all the food we tried as well as the Vietnamese coffee. I particularly loved the more Korean bibimbap dish, and a sago pudding with mango was so yummy we ordered an extra one to take away with us!

Very disappointing. Ordered spring rolls for $16, got two only. The only place we ordered nearly whole menu and left the restaurant hungry. We understand prices in LHI are a bit high due to the supply, but this place charges way to much for what they offer. We paid $130 for meals you can cook at home from a can. The Vietnamese pancake was nearly empty with no bean shoots or mint leaves and couple of frozen prawns. You can't also buy a drink, BYO only. The lady taking orders was lovely though. Unfortunately we won't be ever back. There are many restaurants on the LHI, which serve delicious meals for the same cost.

We paid $82 for 2 mains and 2 cans of coke. The main with meat was overcooked and stringy. We waited for 90 minutes for our food and received no apology on the wait times, despite another table receiving an apology with an offer of a free dessert for their 60 minute wait. We left super unsatisfied. This was the only restaurant open but would’ve been better off paying premium prices for baked beans at Joy’s Shop. We’re not the sorts who would normally leave a bad review but this was an exceptional experience. Please consider whether you’d rather make dinner at your accommodation rather than eating here.

I had heard mixed reviews about Miss Saigon and really wish I could leave a good review, but unfortunately not. I had heard that the pancakes were delicious, so we thought, let's give it a go. The setting up at the top of the hill was quite cute and simple. We arrived for a 6.30 booking on time, and there were only a few people there. We were seated, and then other people started arriving. We were left at the table for quite a long time before the one server came to see us. She showed other people in the restaurant the specials board but never showed us. We had to get it ourselves. We asked for wine glasses and they did not arrive for 40 minutes - a bit of a ckik in the face when you have to pay a $12.00 corkage. We really wanted to pancakes but by the time they had served everone else before us (even though they had arrived afters us) they was only one left. The server said she had good news they found one more pancake but an hour and a half later then the food arrived she said they didnt have the pancake so decided to give us a curry instead. We ordred the beef PHo which was the worst PHo of our lives. It was sliced meat and beef balls and noodles with not one vegetabale. The lady said “oh we keep on fogetting you dont we” and didnt apologise just kind of laughed that they forgot us. She never apologised for the 2 hour wait - i do understand the idea of island time but every other restaurant on the island was exceptional. We spoke to other people who did enjoy the resaurant and loved their pancake so i want to acknowledge that other people do like it . I just wish we could say the same. Give Miss Saigon a miss.

1/5 if that. Possibly and memorably the worst dining experience we’ve had at any restaurant anywhere. Besides overcharging ($140 plus ), the 2 oil swamped tasteless veggie rolls, the 3 main courses that followed were out of a can, rubbery and leaving a plateful of oil. A most amateurish affair taking advantage of a captive transient clientele, this business wouldn’t survive the mainland for a month.

Maybe the chef was having the night off. No Vietnamese female chef to be seen. Only a Caucasian man in the kitchen. The waitress was totally flummoxed by her role. Apart from us having to wait at least an our for our meal, and one of our party not receiving his cutlery until the 11th hour, the food was practically inedible. The crispy pancakes were thick and totally flavourless as were the few prawns and minimal chicken within. It’s a BYO but this was not explained to me when I booked. Some alcohol might have helped us to get through.

It takes a bit of a walk up from the main island centre, but the rewards start as soon as you go through the gate. Lovely decor with tables on the wrap-around balcony of this old home; wonderful aromas. The limitations of catering on an island 500 Km from the mainland are easily understood and handled with grace by our hostess. "What? You've run out of Phõ?" Yes, the big table who arrived before us had taken the last scoop. But when the alternatives arrived: a crispy pancake stuffed with fragrant prawns and chicken and a marinated tofu salad, all was forgiven. This is just the place for a quiet, delicious meal on your next visit to Lord Howe Island.

Situated in a rural cottage amongst trees and a short drive out of town seating only about 30. Great food, great value and a lovely owner/waitress to help with choices. Also allows BYO which many do not. As all restaurants offer on the island, all landlords drive you to any restaurant and the restaurants drive you home so no need to hire a car which are very limited anyway.

We ordered the whole menu and were very satisfied with quality, freshness and flavour. Hostess was very friendly and informative. As much produce as possible is grown on site and all food cooked and prepared on premises by a young vietnamese chef.

I and my husband spent a short holiday in LHI and the local here recommended this restaurant for Asian cuisine especially Vietnamese one cuz I’m obsessed 😍 and honestly the food here wasn’t disappointed me. We ate “banh xeo” which the traditional pancake of Vietnam and the bbq pork noodle bowl. Super delicious, delightful and fresh which is served by lovely waitress. Definitely recommended for whom really wanna taste real Viet food.

The restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful garden setting, a little out of town, with a lift home available if needed. Fresh food with local produce and beautiful flavours. An interesting and welcoming host added to the unique experience, highly recommend a visit if you have a chance.

We were a party of four adults who dined at Miss Saigon whilst on a week's vacation on LHI. We tried three of the mains on offer and each of us greatly enjoyed our chosen meal. I can also highly recommend the desert menu as well. The waitress was very friendly and the location is so pretty and relaxing. We would happily have dined here again.

A group of 9..great food, plenty of laughs..I had the pancake which was the best I've had and the staff worked hard as the restaurant was busy. It was BYO..but beware the corkage was $12.00 a bottle..nothing is cheap on LHI as everything is shipped and apparently the petrol price my go up to $4.00 a ltr by Xmas.
