Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice food & drink and gifts to enjoy before flight to go home. Service is friendly, but it can be busy.

Lovely friendly local family run business at the airport. This is the place to buy well packaged transportable Kentia palms to take home. A selection of books including the Lhi phasmid Childrens book. And other souvenirs like local jewellery etcGrab a beer or ginger beer...or coffee and relax on the lord Howe island airport lawn for your final island chill before the plane home.More

We were leaving the Island on the 14 July. My wife decided to grab a couple of coffees prior. The lady behind the counter I recognised from the general store. She made a wickedly good coffee. And I told her :) Always nice to know...someone behind the machine can make an excellent coffee. I LOVE LHI!More

Not very busy when we arrived to catch our flight back to Brisbane. So I ordered a hot chocolate and a biscuit. It was delicious. What I found to be a little off-putting ~ there was one female person behind the counter ~ and as...I mentioned it wasn't busy...but there's a sign on the counter "We do not offer table service ~ so bring your cups back to the shop" …(now I may have the wording incorrect but you get what I mean?) The staff member was on her phone!!More

This is mainly just a coffee shop with cakes and sandwiches and the like. Also sells souvenirs that are much more expensive than the other shops in town. Good for a quick snack if you need something before your flight and a good spot to...watch the planes come inMore

The coffee and cake we had here before our plane home was spot on. There are plenty of seats outside as well as indoors so you can watch the plane arrive.

Whilst no one can predict busy times, when you know two planes are leaving close together, ie. in the same hour, this means double passengers and maybe double business for you, perhaps double your cafe staff from one to two and perhaps make a point...of serving those leaving on the first flight before those waiting around for an hour for the second flight so you’re not lined up for ages, nearly out the door, then walking straight out to the plane stuffing your coffee and cake down.More

In temporary building whist new terminal is being built. Some nice ideas for last minute souvenirs. Was able to buy DVD of my Mt Gower climb with Jack Shick. They sell Kentia Palms for $15 to take with you on your flight home. Coffee strong...and expensive for smallish cup!More

Whilst waiting for your trip back home, this little cafe offers great coffee and light snacks. A small souvenir shop offers locally made goods and locally grown palms.

Limited choice of snacks pre-flight: we just had a slice of brown toast with those sachets of marmalade or peanut butter. We paid then sat outside in shade until we heard the lady call out "toast!" then we collected it inside. Gotta love LHI. Saw...pizza-topped rolls on counter (from Anchorage bakery?); but no "toasties" were available the day we flew out. Never mind - there's always food on the Dash-8 plane. I only rate it at all to HIGHLY recommend you buy seedling Kentia palms - currently @ $16 - get the most advanced ones you can find by counting the stems. I have given them as thank-you gifts to neighbours who mind the mail etc., and also have 4 of different ages & heights around my home from different times we've been to LHI: slow-growing souvenirs that bring back happy memories year-round.More
