Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful world heritage listed island. Only 13 km of roads so one gets around on foot or bike. Great walks/climbs and exceptional snorkelling, birding. It’s all about exploring the natural environment. No need to obsess about the best room to stay in, spend as little...time in it as possible. Pinetrees is well located but hire a bike for the stay to keep everywhere comfortably accessible. The resort is big enough with little places to sit and read alone or commune. No phone or internet access thankfully so are forced to disconnect. Can buy internet access in the town if needed. Meals are good but generous so won’t go hungry. Planning to return next year. It is a great place.More

The food here is divine! I left every meal absolutely stuffed and was constantly amazed by the creativity and flavours in each dish. The Kingfish yellow curry was a standout, as was the grilled pineapple dessert (unbelievable!). The staff are incredible and super accomodating, and...will always have another option for you based on dietary requirements or personal preference. The cocktails are also lovely, and I would highly recommend the Bees Knees if you are a gin lover. I'm already dreaming about my next trip back for this food, it was truly world class!More

A beautiful array of food presented in buffet style. Assorted salad, meat and condiments of top quality and cheeses to finish off. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

We were staying at Pinetrees lodge which is fully inclusive with breakfast, lunch and dinner. We found the food to be creative, innovative and delicious. Although sometimes a little over complicated to our taste. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cooked food as well...as a selection of homemade muesli, fresh fruit, cereal and toast . The best aspect was having the cappuccino bar for an option. Lunch - we preferred having the bbq delivered to our desired location as it was brilliant having everything at your fingertips for an outdoor bbq. Dinner consisted on a 4 course meal, we actually loved the desserts the best especially the orange cake . Dinner is only for in-house guests whilst lunch is open to others. However, reservations are essential.More

We stayed for a week at Pinetrees and, yes, it is expensive! But most things are on Lord Howe as everything has to be flown or shipped in. Pinetrees prides itself on its food and it easily matches the best we've had anywhere around Australia....For me it was the staff that are the lodge's best asset, with advice on activities around the island and great meal service. We loved cycling to one of the beaches after a morning's snorkelling to find our extravagant lunch waiting for us to be barbequed under the trees - our daughter's favourite meal of the trip. It's the sort of indulgent holiday that everyone deserves occasionally, especially on Lord Howe as so many of the activities will leave you starving (Mt Gower, for example!) Thanks, Ryan and all the staff, for an exceptional experience.More

We spent 4 memorable days at Pinetrees last week. Cant speak highly enough of it. Our garden room was in wonderful condition, quiet and a great place to relax. Meals were outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the lunches - incredibly interesting salads - great. While a...lot of people go off to have barbecues at lunch we preferred to return to base for the delicious lunch. Breakfast and dinners also great. End of the day must was watching the sun go down at the Boathouse - on a pleasant evening dont miss this. Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. All totally understand all the possible activities on the island and delighted to assist with recommendations. I particularly enjoyed being introduced to Yoga in the mornings with Alex (also a dive instructor). She was happy to help out a total Yoga novice - great - thanks so much Alex. We would return in a heartbeat.More

Well the buffet (loosely called a 'grazing table') was set out - $30 each for beef and some very tasty salads plus fresh baked sour dough. I was told on booking that lunch started at 12.30pm. At 1pm when we walked over to get another...slice of beef, it was all nearly packed away. Just as well we arrived on time! Another lady and us asked for a cheese plate with some crackers and dates to have with another drink and they were happy to oblige. Apparently they have a reputation to 'feed you quick'. Sort of a shame when the food was delicious and it would have been nice to sit and soak up the lovely verandah for a little longer.More

My husband and I have just returned from a week’s stay at the amazing Pinetrees where we holidayed with my three sisters, brother and our partners. Words cannot express how wonderful our stay was thanks to the incredible staff and owners of this beautiful haven....Every meal was delicous from breakfast to dinner and the bbqs, lunches and afternoon teas in between. Cannot rave enough about all they did to make our stay such a delight. Yes it is on the pricey end but well worth it if you can. Thank you Dani, Luke and all the staff for this magical holiday.More
