This is a fabulous venue overlooking the beach that is completely ruined by over priced and poor quality food. Most people do not mind paying a premium for premium quality food, what a shame!

For many years this restaurant had the best menu in the Beef+Beach. Since they sold the pub, it’s nowhere near as good. It’s the usual pub food. Very disappointing.

We booked on Sunday 7-11-21 for Tuesday 9-11-21. We requested 7.30 pm on the balcony edge overlooking the sea. Told it would have to be 6.30pm but told balcony would be fine. When we arrived we were told there were no balcony tables available and...had to sit inside. We ordered a bottle of white from SA. After 15 minutes the waiter came back and asked us what wine we ordered so told him again. Another 10 minutes and he turned up with a similar wine from WA which was $20 dearer. When informed that was not what we ordered he informed us it was his first night and he was only helping out a friend. After 25 minutes we got our bottle of wine. Meanwhile we ordered our entree and mains. When asked what the battered fish of the day was we were told salmon. We obviously questioned this and the waiter went away and came back and said definitely battered salmon. After further inquiries he said no it was not salmon although salmon was on the menu. We proceeded to order and settled on salmon (not battered) and well done steak. Our entree's arrived which, I might add were delicious but by this time our wine was finished so we decided to order another. Our mains came and the salmon was virtually raw. We asked for it to be taken back and cooked properly, which they proceeded to do telling us it would take another 20 minutes. Meanwhile, as we were dining together I asked them to take my steak back and keep it warm which they did. Meanwhile there were empty tables on the balcony which could have been given to us as promised. I asked to speak to the person in charge and outlined we were not happy with how we were being treated. She introduced herself as the superviser, apologised and noted our complaint When our mains arrived, my steak with a stick in it saying well done, I found my steak was totally red inside with blood running out of it. I asked to speak to the superviser again and another girl turned up and wanted to know what the problem was. When asked where the superviser was she said she was off at the moment. After going though the scenario up to that point again we got the impression she didn't really care. By this time it was about 8.30pm and we hadn't eaten apart from the entree. We had taken half a glass out of the new bottle of wine. The night, my 71st birthday, was totally spoiled. In disgust I left $100 on the table and we left. On the way out a young couple who had been sitting behind us and witnessed everything went out of there way to let us know how pathetic we had been treated. In hindsight I shouldn't have left an money but I was not looking for something for nothing, just a good night out. The $100 more than covered the bottle of wine and two entree's. Loved Lennox Heads and every other restaurant we frequented every night for a week but won't be back to your pub next holidays. I might add I was so disappointed this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to put a negative review on any restaurant.More

Went here for a meal when arriving at Lennox Head and enquired as to what the fish was that was "sourced locally" seems they were both from New Zealand, no matter how hard I looked out the window I couldn't see New Zealand as a..."Local Market" both were ordered anyway and the Salmon from the Josper Grill came with a selection of sauces, none of which seemed appropriate for salon, Mushroom, pepper, garlic etc. all designed for steak. Anyway ordered a butter sauce and then get the choice of 2 sides, so went with the "Crushed, crispy kipfler potatoes" After waiting forever for the initial drinks that were ordered, our meal arrived, there was the "Local" New Zealand salmon, slightly overcooked, but it was still OK, the coleslaw was OK, however the "Crushed, Crispy Kiplfer Potatoes" were simply stodgy roasted potatoes, there was no crushing and there was definitely no crispy component at all. Made mention of this to the waiter who stared at me for a bit and said 'Oh' and walked away. When the plates were cleared, the potatoes remained on the plate uneaten, and not a word from the service staff, not a comment from the kitchen. Maybe I am a little old fashioned, but if you take the time to put 'crushed' and 'crispy' when writing a menu wouldn't you at least try and go through with it?More

I haven’t liked steak in Australia since my visit to South Africa where I enjoyed what could possibly be described as the best steak in the world. I have been disappointed with steak ever since. My low expectation of Beef & Steak were not only...corrected but I can confirm they are a fully fledged lover of steaks and know beef. This is one of the best steaks I’ve had in the last 5 years. Wagyu all the way.More

The Beef + Beach at the Lennox Hotel is the perfect location for a casual lunch overlooking the blue Pacific, almost idyllic. Almost that is apart from the food. The pub is under new ownership and they are obviously trying to recoup the exorbitant figure...they must have paid for the place. We shared the sashimi, the flavours were good, it's hard to mess up Japanese. The salmon however was far from sashimi grade and at $28 should have included some King fish or similar. We decided to have the fish of the day (Mangrove Jack). The fish was tired, listless and overcooked. Overall the dish was very underwhelming, badly presented and at $42 very over-priced. It's hard to believe with 2 fantastic fish coops down the road that this establishment can't procure some fish worth eating. If you go for the food play it safe and have a burger. It's sad that the food doesn't match the location, because this is very expensive, overpriced ordinary pub food at best.More

I bought a few of my tour group guides with me to check this out as a possible place to bring our travel clients. The location and view is the best in the area . Despite being a decent sized group, the food arrived at...the same time and was really good. It was disappointing how very rude the restaurant manager was. She has quite a strong accent and one of our older group asked her very politely to repeat herself as he couldn't quite catch what she said. She accused him of being racist and threatened to throw him out. I was so embarrassed. It's such a shame! We would have loved to bring our overseas visitors here regularly, but I cant risk them being offended this way.More

Put simply this was a terrible experience. Think the worst pub food at expensive restaurant prices with unnacepable service and you are starting to get the picture. No one to greet you on arrival. Just 2 bar staff yelling someone will be wth you soon....When we were greeted and taken to a table we were given water nut no glasses. Gave up trying to get someones attention till our order was taken. Ordered a wine, not available. Chose another, not available. Garlic bread was huge and so ouly it dripped down your hands and so tough it almost broke your teeth. Seafood pie way way to rich. Was nice for a few mouthfulls but that was enough. Chicken parmi was huge but tasteless even adding extra salt and chips stogey. No one came near us for a second drink order. We would have ordered desert but again no one seemed interested in taking an order and as the other food was so bad ee left and had desert at another restaurant in town, Mai Thia. Avoid this place. There are so many other places so much better in every aspect.More

We pre booked tonight for our family of 7. All I can say is disappointing! There has been a recent increase in prices. Having ate at the beef & beach for the past 3 years this did not faze us. However, the food was over...priced & barely edible. Complete waste of money! Would not recommend to our worst enemy. If you are looking to eat local, I would highly recommend Lex Thai, Lennox Pizza Pasta or even the Mexican.More
