Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I first visited this pub 40 years ago; loved it then and still love it now. It is a classic country pub with lots of country-related sports photos and other memorabilia decorating the walls. Live music on a Sunday is great - just as it was 40 years ago. So, the atmosphere is excellent, the beer is cold but food is just OK - very stock-standard pub-grub menu, basic fare when in this touristy location I think they can afford to be more adventurous. Still, everything else means the place is still definitely worth a visit.

It's got the old atmospheric interior with the nice Johnny Warren museum then a modern brick courtyard up the stairs but that's where they get singers so it was good up there. The food menu is short, fairly boring but the pies were done ok and not very expensive by country pub standards.

Beautiful historical pub, so much to see inside and i think that makes the place. I feel the food was very average, we were disappointed in our steak sandwich. It was pale, served on ordinary sliced Cole's bread, and the usual ingredients you would use at home and chips. For the cost $23 was expensive for what it was. I feel the menu needs a fresh start and ensure staff in the kitchen have training on food cooking and presentation. I think once this is addressed, we will be back for food. It's a great stop in for a cold beer or wine...not for food. You will dis heartened.

Our curiosity got the better of us whilst driving from Bowral to Kiama and we stopped for a quick bite. I am so glad we did what an interesting place. We sampled the Spring Rolls & Chicken Wings. Washed down with a beer and a slap on the King of the Nile. You could spend hours here checking out the memorabilia. Must stop when passing through.

Steak was so tender and the salad crispy fresh! Chips on the side were lovely as well. Dining room was spacious and clean. Bar and Bistro Staff were pleasant and welcoming. The open fireplace added warmth and ambience to my experience. Friday 16th June 2023

Service great but not a great place to watch the footy. Small TV in the pub area, bigger TV in the bistro but no vibe in there. A let down because the pub area is great - decor, fire, etc - but overshadowed by pokies in the corners. Decent spot to stop for a quick beverage and a feed. It won’t blow the budget. But don’t plan to watch the footy there.

I organised a club ride here on Saturday. We passed up on an earlier stop at a Bunnings sausage sizzle. Oh how I wish we had lunch there! I had fish and chips. The chips were great but the fish was disgusting and I’m sure it was undercooked. Two of the other guests had the vol-au-vent specials. Both the meals were rubbery and was left and couldn’t be eaten. 2 had the barley soup special. Was ok but a bit salty. The bar staff were just lovely. Great job! The chef needs to go get cooking lessons. And like always, would I come back?? Not for quite some time that’s for sure!

Stayed here in a pub room upstairs from the bar. It did have a shared bathroom but it was spotless and as good as at home. The floors were a bit creaky, but it is an old country pub. The pub has a lot of history and the main bar, while small, is covered in memorabilia. There is ample inside seating in two other large rooms and a big shady beer garden, with even more motel style accommodation out the back. The meals are good quality pub food, I had the roast lamb which was as good as home cooked, even though the pub was packed. Parking is a bit tight though. We were there for a big family event in the nearby school of arts. I’d driven past here many times over the years and always wanted to check it out, I’m glad I did. Enjoy it to the full by booking in overnight on your way south, exploring the beautiful south coast. Nearby, there are two coffee shops and an IGA across the road, an ideal first night stop on your escape from Sydney.

We didn't eat, just poked our head in to look at the Johnny Warren memorabilia. A incredible collection of moments from a good blokes life.

Our family chose to lunch here after visiting Minnamurra Falls. It is a great pub with lots of memorabilia on the walls. Ordering the food was easy and done at the bar. All the kids meals came with a free ice cream. The food was mixed. The meat was well cooked and delicious but some of the vegetables looked like they had been in a bain marie too long as they looked dry. The kids had nuggets & chips that was served with salad and dressing on the salad. Staff were super friendly and accomodating. I do recommend this place for a meal.

We had barramundi fried and chips and barra burger. Both potions were good and price reasonable. Nice atmosphere and facilities.

Our visit on sunday for a catch up with friends was a disappointment, the food was terrible, my battered fish had a slimey texture and tasted awful. My friends steak was not even seared and looked like it had been boiled in the fry pan, or put on a warm grill. My husband's chicken snitzel burger again had a bad flavour and the mayo terrible. The beer garden and the bar staff were lovely, but as a chef myself , I can honestly say the food was terrible. As a local, I probably would give this place a miss.
