Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can tell a lot about a town from its meat pies. A good pie should fill the hand, heavy, pendulous, promising... but weight alone won’t tell you if yours is from a good bakery. The entire crust should be soft to the touch and...golden brown, no burned spots. Take a bite: there should be, simultaneously, the flavour of rich meat and the exquisite agony of burning tongue. Look at the filling, it should be bound together, oozing like lava from a volcano. No runny gravy. Now about the pies in Holbrook …I think I’ve had better.More

It is part of a service station- heaps of seating - very basic decor. Service was peremptory. I ordered a pie and a drink- it was all reasonable but by choice I would not return. The pie crust was overcooked.

Fantastic baked goods - our pies were melt in the mouth, pastry so good. Apple bun was great too! Very popular bakery, with seating outside as well as in.

For 25 years this bakery has delivered great pies! Heading from Melbourne back home to Sydney, so as always, made Holbrook the lunch spot. In 25 years, this bakery has always had great food. Today customers were lined up outside, that speaks for itself. Then...nothing like a pie sitting next to the submarine.More

Got some delicious fresh made sandwiches - super tasty and obviously made within the last few minutes. Cinnamon doughnuts were divine and still warm. Coffee was average to above average but the freshness of food made up for it.

Holbrook is a good stop to make, even if it means taking a detour from the highway. The pies at this bakery are very good as was the coffee. The bakery has tables and chairs both inside and out. Very serviceable.

The Holbrook Bakery is a *proper* old school bakery. All the favourites, incredible cakes, biscuits & sweets, the best pies and plenty of options to suit just about anyone. Great pre-made sandwiches and rolls for a road trip, and an awesome brekkie roll if you've...overnight-ed in Holbrook. We stop here every time we're travelling on the Hume and it never disappoints, and is always busy with locals and travellers. The new outpost at the Caltex on the edge of town is modern and easy if you're refuelling but you can't beat the old shop in the middle of town that has heaps of charm. One to support so its around in years to come! We'll be back!!More

We stopped here for food on a road trip. The food was terrible. The donuts were incredibly oily, like they were not drained properly. The coffee was scalding hot. We were very disappointed.

We called in here for lunch during our 2 night stopover in Holbrook and even though we had to wait on a queue to place our order the wait was worthwhile. We had Meat pies and coffees and both were served hot and delicious. It...obviously is the GO TO Bakery in Holbrook as the place was packed with locals and doing a roaring trade in takeaways.More

We stopped here en route and ordered the chicken schnitzel roll with the lot. My husband rates it as the best he’s ever eaten. The chicken was freshly cooked and came with tomato, beetroot, onion, fried egg, bacon, lettuce, cheese, pineapple and mayo. Amazing taste,...and amazing value.More

This bakery is awesome. Have always stopped here and are never disappointed. Great cakes, pies, sausage rolls and coffee. Best salad and meat rolls. Eat in or outside under the awning. Make sure you go to the original vintage bakery shop not the new one...near the motorway exit and service station, although the same name it is no where near as good as the old cafe shop. A must to stop at, 10/10 Great range of fresh old school cakes and breads.More

We stopped over for some pies based on a friend’s recommendation. We had the mushroom and steak as well as the steak and veg. Both were delicious. The humble looking apple slice was divine! Lots of locals and their pies are flying out of their...doors during lunch hours. Very reasonably priced too. It’s probably not something you would detour for but if you happen to be in the area, it’s definitely worth a stopover.More

Stopped here on the way to Sydney and had a great lunch. Pies were really yummy, sandwiches were super fresh and the pie and chips deal was the best. Definitely recommend 🙂
