Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Always a delightful stop. Good old fashioned service with a smile and a chat from Wendy & Stephen and the team. Great selection in a menu that is all made in store. All beautifully presented. Great coffee, tea and milkshakes too! You can even choose...your own teapot. It’s the little things that make this place great that you just need to experience to see why this place is so inviting. A great space and quaint a little gift shop too. Also, a nice clean toilet. Sorry about the photo. Was enjoying the homemade Thai Chicken curry pie before remembering to take a photo!More

Lovely place to stop when on a roadtrip. The food was delicious and a large range to choose from. I love the range in the gift shop. There were so many different ranges of gourmet food especially rubs. My grandson loved his waffles. They also...make home made gourmet pies.More

Hidden gem. Don’t drive thru this area without stopping here for breakfast lunch or just coffee. Food is amazing, building itself is a historical delight and the staff are genuinely friendly.

Wendy at Barnes Store is absolutely wonderful. I called in advance of a visit to Harden to order a takeaway meal with a ridiculous amount of conditions. The food needed to accommodate diets for pregnancy, diabetes and a vegetarian. Wendy was cheerful, extremely helpful and...just plain brilliant delivering a three course meal of the best pumpkin soup I ever eaten (with a vegetable base made especially from scratch and a french stick of woodfired sour dough), a delicious roasted vegetable bake (with the generous inclusion of a jar of her stunning homemade tomato relish) and a sugar-free fruit crumble, which was so flavoursome no one would never guess it contained no sugar. Everyone was delighted with this generous and tasty meal. Much gratitude to Wendy, who is indeed a wizard in the kitchen. Do not visit The Hilltops Region without eating at the Barnes Store and Emporium. Ask for Wendy 😊More

I enjoyed my breakfast in this country cafe. We ordered a pot of tea and were able to chose our own teapot from their eclectic collection of tea pots. The old hardwood floor boards are a feature of the cafe, as are the selection of...lollies, jams, spices and oils for sale that are all made in-house. When you order at the counter, you get a table place marker for your order. Instead of a boring number, instead your table marker is a story about a different local character. Our table was about a bushranger, and the table next to us also had a story about a bushranger. I did wonder if ALL the place markers were about infamous Australian bushrangers! I guess I'll have to go back another time and see if they are. Definitely worth a drive in the countryside to go and visit this café. Take home some of their lovely jams and relishes as a bonus.More

One of the few local businesses actually open and doing well. Most are either closed or not open for travellers at the earlier hours of the morning. The food was excellent from the Big Breakfasts, the Waffles and the Coffee and Hot Chocolates….a real country classic...in the old store front …. It may look closed or a little sleepy due to the lack of outdoor tables but a great spot to grab breakfast or lunch and has a huge indoor eating area …. You could drop a bus load and still have room.More
