We went here for lunch while in Crescent Head.
They don't seem to have the Covid19 thing covered well. No one was checking on people entering the Tavern. The only staff member we saw was at the bar.
We found a table, looked at the menu and ordered. We were then told that tables with numbers on them were booked so we moved to another table. No staff had told us this when we entered.
The menu is limited to basic pub food. We had vegan nachos - it was large enough to share. It was ok, no chilli at all, not even a hint, so it lacked that authentic nacho flavour.
2 lime and sodas cost us $9,which seemed excessive.
While we were there some other patrons moved a couple of tables and blocked the stairs, making it difficult for us to get down them. Nothing was done about this.
No the best lunch I've had.

Went there on Wednesday night to watch state of origin football. We had to go down stairs to the bottle shop to order pizzas and once ready take them up stairs to to the tavern to eat. No other food available. One of the staff possibly owner or manager was drinking quiet a bit while in work shirt. Not a professional look.
Pizza was nice and cost $25
A can of bourbon cost $11.
Thankfully this is not my local at those prices. Would not return there as appears to be poorly run hotel that ran out of cans at 8pm with only about 40people at location and some beer taps were turned off and no real food selection like most hotels have.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Crescent Head Tavern. I'm happy to report that our bistro is now open for business (it was closed for renovations during your visit) and the response from our guests has been extremely positive. We have only just taken over the management of this venue and we have a long list of customer improvements in the pipeline. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

After having a meal at another venue with meals that were priced well and nice enough to eat,
I have to say the Tavern meals were over priced for what we ordered, in saying that the sauce over the steak was really nice.
Pity we couldn’t eat the steak last night, they were tough as.
I’ll go back to the County Club for a steak and a well priced meal.
The atmosphere is really good at the Taven also

We read reviews and were immediately deterred but were told it had a ‘new chef’ and was under ‘new management’ so, being the only place in town on a Tuesday night open for dinner we went. We got here and the place wasn’t very busy. Not very many people eating, 1 person lining up for food. Grab menus and went to order only to be told there was a big group about to arrive to the Tavern and we would have to wait to order after them. Umm WHAT?! No reason was given. We obliged and waited. Finally when ordering we were told that food would be at >1 hours wait. Seriously this place is really sad. The management is non-existent.
If you are looking to eat dinner in Crescent Head. Avoid being here Mon-Wed. Everywhere is closed and you will be left to roll the dice at the Tavern

I’m not sure where to start ,,,, firstly we booked as last time we visited for dinner was told because we hadn’t booked it would be a 1 hour wait for food , still took nearly 2 hours for 3 entrees. I noticed a lot of people where not wearing masks whilst walking around and especially going to the bar, so I didn’t either, ordered my drinks from the bar then was asked to put a mask on by manager ( well seemed to be anyway ) I said yes fine but enforce all the other ppl that you have been serving for the last 3 hours I’ve been here to. Nope still chose to only ask the middle aged women to wear them. ( We witnessed another women be asked also ) Not once did he ask any man or young woman to wear one, including at the bar when ordering drinks. This place has one rule for locals and one for visitors. Food was over priced and not worth the wait.

Excellent! Delicious food and friendly, helpful staff have made the Crescent Head Tavern a very worthwhile meal destination when in CH. We’ve been coming to CH for 30 years (yes, every year!) and this current chef delivers food that is the best we’ve enjoyed over that time. Very, very enjoyable.
And staff are friendly and attentive. Double thumbs up from us!

Fantastic food, fast service, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The rump steak with the garlic and prawn topper and a side of mushroom gravy was cooked to medium well-done as requested. The crispy battered fish and crunchy chips with a side salad were nicely done. The greek salad with a prawn topper was fresh and tasty. The friendly staff from the kitchen were more than happy to discuss and provide food requests. Thanks Cody..

Ordered 3 lots of fish, chips and salad for takeaway. 1 vegan nachos also for takeaway. Ordered at 5.30pm (as soon as the bistro opened). Order arrived 6pm. The French fries weren’t thoroughly cooked and were barely warm. The fish pieces were small. The highlight was the salad and tartare sauce. The vegan nachos were also disappointing. I wouldn’t order food here again.

I only have four words… don’t go to eat its horrible, I had the worst nachos of my life today and watched a horror story that starred two people in the kitchen who really couldn’t care less about what they were putting on anybody’s plate. So sad that the industry has to employ people like this with no love and no embrace meant for what they are employed to do.
Cold lumpy under seasoned mince, with gluggy cheap cheese , meals put up on counter to sit for minutes while one or the other were having breaks!! Spoons dropped on floor and reused! Hands wiping faces and then chopping food without washing what have we all come to? To spend our hard earned soy on this???????

Went for dinner on Saturday night. Had booked a table. Just as well - it was very busy. Security at the door was covering Covid and keeping numbers at required levels.
Food was excellent! Oysters, bruschetta, fish of the day, lamb rack... all rated highly. The Tavern has a couple of inside seating levels plus an outdoor terrace. New management is turning the place around. Well done.

Purchased 2 takeaway pizzas tonight . BBQ Chicken and the Tavern Supreme. Cost $48 ( so they were quite expensive) for the 2 pizzas. The base on both pizzas was burnt and the chicken pizza was dry. Not a lot of topping either for $48. Very disappointed.

Rude service ,extremely long wait for very substandard basic meals
Waited close to 30 min for schnitzel ,burger and cold wedges
Complained to rude barmaid and Was told we are busy !
And was accompanied by a roll of the eyes
Didn’t even walk into the kitchen to check
Never again !
Will walk across the road to the club next time
Absolute crapp!
Staff needs a few lessons in customer service

It was clearly the wrong time to visit this venue as a family. Very young crowd, very loud, very busy and reflective that our visit was over the Easter period. The service was great and the prime reason I have given three stars as the food itself was probably below average to be honest. But, I would like to go back again as I think it’s more reflective of how busy the place was at the time.

We had a family reunion dinner there last night. Our party of 33 could not fault the amazing food from the menu. All meals were delicious and the staff were amazing. Highlights were the lamb, mussels and prawns!! Well done CH Tavern

Major renovations had taken place since we were last here, but it looked clinical and sterile and was not as welcoming as in bygone years. Ate there and the various steaks and soggy chips were disappointing. Minimal range of worthwhile beers.
