Our booking for 10 people was for 6.30pm which was good as later there was a short queue but it is a peak tourist time in Byron Bay. My meal of seafood fettuccine with a bisque sauce was tasty and satisfying. The bisque sauce was full flavoured and the seafood included mussels, clams, calamari and prawns. The olives, squid, pizza and arancini looked good. The ambience and service is casual and friendly. Fortunately I requested my main meal at the same time as others were served entrees as I was hungry. For others who only ordered a main there was about an hour’s wait as the restaurant was filled to capacity.

From the moment we walked into this restaurant JJ/Jimmy greeted us and treated us like the only people there. I had Seafood Linguine loaded with fresh, flavoursome seafood and too large too finish. Cameron had a divine steak perfectly cooked with the tastiest sides. The chocolate cake is like a chocolate explosion and the Spicy Margarita is filled with taste and kick. A wonderful evening filled with great company, amazing food and the best service. We can’t wait to come back for your fresh pasta!

What an amazing family dining experience .... the pizzas, Italian wood fired, are just spectacular. My daughter is a vegetarian and was really impressed with the menu choices. I went for a pasta dish, the pasta being made fresh in house daily, is just delicious. Our waitress was really passionate about the service and ambience which made our dining experience a pleasure. She was extremely friendly and attentive ensuring that our evening was both enjoyable and memorable . The restaurant has a very authentic Italian vibe and the energy is easy-going and relaxing .... highly recommend to anyone visiting the area ... will definitely be back !

I’ll start by stating that we come to this restaurant every year on our annual Byron holiday. The pizzas are superb and the venue is a little away from the bustle of downtown. Unfortunately, our waitress last night was pretty rude. When we arrived for our 5pm booking with our three kids, she pressured us 3 times within the first 5 minutes to order our food. She kept reminding us that our table was only available for 90min, which we were fine about given the COVID situation. However, she kept rushing us to order! “We have three kids, we will be long gone by 90min”, we told her! But, still, she kept returning despite my husband and I still clearly looking at the menu and having discussions about what to order. She made us so uncomfortable that we were about to leave, but then our wine arrived so we stayed. We quickly ordered three pizzas and a main ‘special’ for $35, which was slow cooked carne (beef) with truffle mash and gremolata. We thought it sounded amazing! Unfortunately, when our food was brought out 10 min later, the pizzas were amazing but we were surprised as soon as we saw the main. It looked like slop. When we tasted it... nothing. No flavour, so seasoning, no texture. It was so weird - the meat could have been chicken, or pork. My son thought it was fish! It was so strange and certainly not worth $35. We had already shared spoons of it with the kids but sent the rest back to the kitchen (probably about 1/4 of the serving). We explained the problems to our waitress when she came to clear the table and she said she’d tell the kitchen. We usually have dessert but couldn’t wait to get out of there. 45min after arriving, the bill was brought out and we were still charged for the beef main on it. $135 dinner - our most expensive meal during our holiday and all we got was three pizzas, thread glasses of wine and bowl of slop. I was pretty mad but hubby paid because he never makes a scene. However, as we were leaving, he did something that I’ve not seen him do in 20 years of marriage (which says a lot). He told the waitress how disappointed we were, that this was our ‘special occasion’ restaurant every time we come to Byron, and that we had a really poor experience this time due to her rushing us at the start. It fell on deaf ears. Nothing was said as we walked past the manager on our way out. We will not be back. If you must come here, still to the pizza

I have just returned from this overpriced trattoria most unsatisfied. The service was in the main friendly and although the glass of wine I had ordered took a while to arrive the waitress was apologetic. The pizza however had to be the worst I have had in all my 70 years - soggy and wet . My mistake was not complaining about it immediately. What really raised my ire was that when I did , instead of apologising the staff tried to ‘explain’ to me that this is the way wood fired pizza was supposed to be in the most patronising manner. This was the most expensive meal we have had in this overpriced tourist Mecca and I was appalled to be spoken to in this manner! My advice - don’t go!

I booked Basilico for my partner's birthday as we were visiting Byron from Sydney. I wanted somewhere casual, not overpriced with great food. Basilico absolutely delivered. We were looked after by the friendliest Irish waiter whose name I didn't catch. She was super attentive and equally as excited about the meal as we were. We shared the bruschetta to start which was perfectly executed; crunchy ciabatta, fresh finely-diced tomato and just the right amount of EVOO and basil. And OMG THE PIZZA. We shared the Buffilina (basically a margarita but with buffalo mozzarella) and the Tartuffo (think mushrooms, prosciutto and truffle goodness). The base on each was thin and crispy as it should be, the toppings divine but restrained, and the crust was so nice and wide it was basically a pot of gold at the end of the pizza slice rainbow. Good Italian pizza is so simple but so rarely done well. Basilico have nailed it. I will be talking about this meal for months.

We were hesitant about going here but were pleasantly surprised. As very regular restaurant attendees we are fussy but this was a very enjoyable experience. Try the arancini balls which are innovative and different. Good service too where we had the one attentive waitress all night.

I was incredibly disappointed with the tasteless crab spaghetti I ordered at your restaurant on Sunday. I felt like I was eating nothing more than salty oil soup that fell apart on my plate. I have never been so disappointed with a pasta in my life! The supposed homemade spaghetti was inexcusably cut in half, not full pasta. The sauce looked like an oily soup with no taste at all and there were no signs of crabmeat at all. It looked like something out of a free soup kitchen, and definitely not what I expected from an Italian place like this. I couldn’t eat even one spoon of it, and had to send it back. Never thought I would eat “soup noodles” at an Italian restaurant. So disappointed and as an half Italian, I feel offended! The most unfortunate thing is that they charged me $36 for the meal I didn’t even eat! Even though I explained that it was “inedible” and only tried one bite of it, I was still charged for it. This is certainly not how you treat your paying customers.

Beautiful staff ! After ordering we soon realised our two children under 3 were not going to make it through the meal being happy . Things were getting disruptive and even though we were embarrassed knowing it would be a pain we thought it was best to leave and ask for takeaway . The staff were all so accommodating and prompt to get our meals out . It was so lovely to not feel the hassle of us having to leave . Food was amazing even as takeout and would highly recommend .

It's a real sheep in wolves clothing. Nothing to look at during the day when its shut and as soon as night time appears this place comes alive. Great service, great atmosphere and certainly great food. We were a party of four, huge big table with plenty of space around us, very pleasant young Dutch waitress who was just so helpful, great( albeit small ) menu, which is terrific as it means freshness, great wines and super delicious food. Had a great night, thank you and see you next year. Bravo !

I chose this restaurant based on ratings, (ignoring the entitled wingers) and it was a great choice. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and even when it became busy they never missed a thing. The food was delicious. I went for the market fish which was fresh, tasty and accompanied by very complementary finishes. The Stone and Wood beer on tap was well kept and a great accompaniment to the food

What a fantastic meal, atmosphere and value for money, one of the best Italian meals we have experienced around the world. The Pizza's made by chef Lorenzo were just amazing, the best pizzas we have ever eaten, soft, light, fluffy but so tasty. He did this whilst entraining our children on how to make the perfect pizza and asking the all about their trip through Australia. The service was fantastic, and the value for money out of this world. We would come back to Byron Bay just for this experience again.

found this place just randomly walking back from the beach. such a lovely surprise! the venue and the vibe are not pretentious at all, you straight away feel like you have been welcomed to your nonna's dinner table. the servers are lovely, the food outstanding and well portioned and the owner, iacopo, is doing everything he can to make you feel welcomed. definitely an hidden gem. (bonus point: stefano's cocktails are the best in the bay!) definitely recommended

The meet lovers wood fired pizza was very good. The calamari & bruschetta was good. The black angus sirloin was average & nothing special. The spaghetti marinara was..... well.... not like any marinara we’ve ever tasted or seen before. No thick red sauce, really plain, gluggy & tasteless. We certainly wouldn’t recommend the marinara. We all tried it & the consensus from the four of us was it’s not a good marinara. Overall a rather expensive meal, hence, we probably wouldn’t return unless it was for a pizza. Nothing WOW about this place, location or decor. Although the staff & service was friendly & prompt. If you are coming here stick to the pizzas!

We just got back from BYRON BAY! The Trattoria Basiloco was conveniently located in front of our motel and this was our evening meal of choice.. not one, but three nights in a row. So we sampled the eggplant, the gnocchi and the pizza.. as well as the homemade lasagne. What a delight! Atmosphere was cosy, service was professional and friendly and the food, all of the dishes, were superb. I was so impressed by the gnocchi with mushrooms, as well as the eggplant parmigiana and really all the dishes that we tried. I think it was fate that this place was... where we were staying. Oh.. I forgot the tiramisu for dessert. Traditional Italian food and great venue, to sum up! Go, go, go there, it will EXCEED your expectations.
