Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Where do I start. The food is amazing, the coffee is amazing and the staff are amazing!!! We have had brunch there the past 2 days and adore it. The small wait for a table is definitely worth it and they take your number and message you when your table is ready so you’re free to go for a wander while waiting. Everything we had was to die for, however a special mention must go to the scrambled eggs with bacon (served with marinated feta and greens), the cold brew coconut coffee, and the bulletproof coffee. You won’t be disappointed!

We visited Byron Bay and wanted a good breakfast and we got that here. Quirkily presented. Staff were polite. We went for the poached eggs on soda bread with avocado was not disappointed. Visited at 7.15am was busy but managed to get a table.

If there was a sixth star I would have given it. Stayed in Byron 4 days and went for breakfast every single day here at Bayleaf. They’re everything I want a cafe to be and more, and they deserve the busy-ness they get. Not only that, they offer a place to hang out and order takeaway items while you wait a perfectly reasonable time for the next available table. My favourite thing about it though is the service. I’m jealous as a cafe worker of the staff who work there, as perhaps it all boils down to the fact that the staff are permitted to be themselves and have a good time and as a result, I and my partner got looked after and there was no inconsistency in the quality of service despite dealing with perhaps 6 different servers over all of our visits. Bravo!

A nice place to have breakfast. We were sat inside and I think that it might be preferable to get an outside seat. We had scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with a side of bacon, a cappuccino and a pot of English breakfast tea. The tea wasp very enjoyable, the cappuccino was average. However, they seem to have got caught up in this trend of trying to make scrambled eggs too fancy. The eggs were more like an undercooked omelet, without any seasoning. The sourdough toast was ok but as always, sourdough toast is too hard to cut and easily eat with scrambled eggs. Overall an average breakfast.

My partner and I had breakfast at Bayleaf for 2 days in a row during our stay in Byron Bay because it was THAT good. The staff were super friendly and assisted us in choosing our meals based on their favourites because I couldn’t decide! The cold brew coconut coffee was so lovely and both my partner and I loved our meals down to the very last bite. The atmosphere and vibe of the cafe is also so lovely!

I came here for breakfast and it was busy, they said if I wait 10-15 mins they will have a table for me, I waited patiently while playing candy crush for 20-30 mins. Suddenly I got the call over, I followed the man over to our “table” and to my surprise he didn’t offer me a table, but instead a box. I thought he was joking, but the look in his eye was dead serious. Here I am trying to impress my lady friend so I didn’t say anything, thinking to myself that maybe it won’t be so bad. It was! We sat down and they took our order before we could even get comfortable. At this stage I decided that I would no longer eat breakfast as it was too painful on my delicate bottom and didn’t have anywhere to sit my plate other than my lap, everyone knows how hard it is to cut sourdough when it’s on a table let alone my lap but I gave them one more chance and decided to have a quick coffee before I left,I asked for my usual Ice Vanilla Latte and was told they had no syrups, my day was completely ruined. I’m not mad about the coffee, I understand businesses run out of ingredients but as for the box, as long as it is there I will not sleep at night, it will haunt me for the rest of my days! I pray everyday that the owners of this establishment will dismantle this terrible idea of a table, stop trying to reinvent the wheel! People have been eating off tables and sitting at chairs for centuries for a reason! It works, boxes don’t!

This is one of the best breakfast and lunch places in Byron Bay. The entire family were satisfied by their meals... which is a hard thing for 7 people between 7 and 80 years old! Children love the dippy eggs which are cooked to perfection (still runny on the inside). Banana bread is unreal. Sometimes there's a short wait, but the staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome while you wait for a table.

Oh soo good! Went there twice in a row and thinking about it again before we leave.... Firstly the service here is impeccable. They have lots of customers going through every day and the lovely waitress remembered that my partner ordered soy milk the day before! I will be back to Bayleaf next time. We had the Avo on toast, big green breakfast and Dukkah poached eggs. These were all amazing and have introduced us to Dukkah. Thanks again to all at Bayleaf.

The menu knowledge by our waitress was amazing. Food was excellent. We ordered the brown rice salad and scrambled eggs-flavours were deep and delicious. Coffees too were delicious and served beautifully. A long wait to get in but worth it.

We have been on a 4 month trip around 4 states of Australia and this was hands down the best service of any hospitality venue we have been to. I remember we arrived and were told it would be a 20 min or so wait for a table which we were fine with, and when we got back the girl on front of house seemed so excited to see us and ushered us to our table. We then got our coffees within 5 mins of ordering them (albeit the completely packed cafe) and had the most unique and delicious breakfasts. This was our second visit to the cafe and we will be back. Thanks bayleaf

Absolutely recommend Bayleaf cafe! All menu items are fresh and delicious. The Scrambled Special is a must and my all time favourite. My husband prefers the Dukkah Poached Eggs. However, you really can’t go wrong. Also offers delicious coffee and some unique brews that change weekly. You will likely need to wait for a table, usually not much more than 20 minutes, but it is something to consider when planning your visit.

Service was good, could have been offered one for the warm Thai water. I had the chilli scrambled eggs with avocado, on a sourdough bread. The chilli eggs need more flavour, more chilli, some garlic maybe. Bacon is an extra $6. On top of $22 dollar breakfast. Plus 15. % for public holiday and credit card surcharge. The biggest complaint was LIME. Why? It ruined the flavour. Sorry. My wife had sardines with an extra poached egg. It had green olives, rocket, pickled sweet onions, on a sourdough. While mine was hot here was not. Just failed to hit the spot flavour wise. Disappointing for the price.

Great place. The Bay Leaf was a lovely place to go for lunch on a first date. It has a good menu with meat and non-meat options. My friend had a beef burger and I had the vegan version. Both were excellent. The only thing that would have complemented the food was a glass of wine but I don’t think the cafe has a licence for it. A very cute waiter too!

Overpriced $20.00 for one over cooked egg, either you get it soft or hard. Not a big dish with quarter avocado ,herbs and egg and roasted 🍋 lemon. Liver tea didn't have much leaves in the pot today at $6.00. I think this place is popular as its got the name around town.

Had the pleasure to have breakfast twice recently at Bay Leaf Cafe. The staff were friendly and the barista was even singing along with the music in the background. Food was very tasty, coffee was excellent and the cafe had a trendy vibe. Inside and outside seating options were both good. Booking a table online was an easy process.
