Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

New Years day and nothing open. We turned off the M1 at Bulahdelah looking for a cafe for breakfast. We found the Myalla Cafe on the main street and even at an early the cafe was well patronized. My wife had the ful breakfast while I had the pancakes with maple syrup. Both meals very good and I would highly recommend this place. Take the time to turn off the M1 and visit the Myalla Cafe, well worth it. GF options available.

stopped in Buladelah on way home from north coast for a break from the M1. Decided to have lunch there and chose Myalla. Lunch was two simple sandwiches and coffees, we both loved the sandwiches, great fresh bread and so much filling and the coffee was great. Will definitely be stopping there again and will recommend to family who regularly travel from the north coast to Sydney

This little oasis is easily the most amiable stop over between Sydney and Port Macquarie.
The variety and quality of the food is match by the courteous experienced staff.
Make sure to say hi t either Chelly or Terri.
These 2 lady's will have you feeling like part of their extended family.

Reading the reviews I am stunned. Driving through from Sydney limited choices where to stop and never here again for sure. The menu so unhealthy plain tip top bread eggs bacon or eggs sausage or blt or a bacon and egg roll ! Asked for a side of tomato and it was a slither and got charged $4.50. Presentation so plain Staff are without personality and curt and walk past tables of dirty plates without picking them up. The building has such potential but needs someone who knows what they are doing and a chef that knows about food. Really bad.

Came in about 4 months ago and had the best breakfast, consisting of bacon and poached eggs with toast and grilled tomato
Went in last week for the same meal, and instead of grilled tomato with my breakfast, recieved a ‘side salad’ that had lettuce, cucumber, onion and carrot. Was not happy with it at all, looked around and all the breakfast orders being sent out had salads instead of grilled tomato.
Don’t know about everyone else but when I order breakfast, grilled tomato is preferred over salad..

We ordered a schnitzel sandwich and a chicken parmigiana, The schnitzel was served with soggy bread and a chicken schnitzel was served instead of the parmigiana. Poor service and grumpy staff. I'd give it a miss next time.

Did a lap of the main street and settled on this cafe for breakfast. Was a great choice. Staff very friendly. Coffee was excellent. Good selection on the menu. Were able to supply gluten free options for my partner. We both had bacon, eggs and toast which were delivered very quickly to our table on the deck in the sun. Great spot seated far enough of the street for peaceful dinning. Would most definitely call here again if in the area.

Thought I’d treat myself for breakfast and coffee. Bad idea!! Ordered eggs benny with ham and a lrg flat white. Breakfast came out first and didn’t look appealing, no garnish or anything colourful on plate. Very plain. Eggs cooked good but overall below average. Half way through my coffee came , it’s not really a large cup. So bad , so bad I didn’t drink it. Really disappointed. 3 staff on , 2 were wearing what you could say was tracksuit or bed wear. Not professional staff or cafe. Didn’t check my vaccination or check in.Been here twice and both times disappointed so won’t be back. People in small businesses like this need to be very careful not to get complacent about good service and quality of food.

Have been here twice now, both during Covid. The staff always seem overwhelmed when there are more than a few customers. Had to wait for a table for over 15 mins and then wait over for it to be cleaned and then the toasted sandwich was ordinary although the coffee was great. A servo with a cafe would have been a better option, which I will be doing next time

Ate at this cafe on Saturday, had a bacon and egg roll and cappuccino, it was great. Retured today, Monday afternoon odered an other 2 cappuccino's in mugs and cakes. When the coffees came out they were in takeaway cups. Ask for proper mugs told they only do paper. Mentioned that we had eaten there on Saturday with proper mugs and were told they didnt want to wash up any more. Thought the service and attitude was quite bad.

I've passed through Buladelah on my way up the coast several times, and every time decided to stop at this cafe and enjoy some top-notch food. It's peaceful, visited by curious, friendly sparrows and staffed by helpful, courteous people.
The food is your usual breakfast/cafe fare, with plenty of options for drinks and tasty treats if you just want a drive by cake.
Love the food, the location and the love put into everything. I'll be stopping by again next time, too!

We stopped off in Buladelah for lunch, first stretching our legs with a walk up and down the main st. Myalla is an old cottage with a wide veranda, patterned ceilings and a plenty of charm, and was easily the most attractive eatery in town. There is also a lovely, well-tended garden out front and as it was a beautiful autumn day we took a table there. Both of us had wraps, which we shared - Thai lamb and Tandoori chicken. (We both preferred the lamb.) Coffee was good without being outstanding. I've had far worse on other country lunch stops.

When driving north from Sydney, the Myalla Cafe is a great little stopping point when you need a break. It’s about 3 hours from Sydney and is only a minute off the highway, at the riverside town of Bulahdelah.
The breakfast menu has a fairly conventional list of offerings (see photo below).
We had the Bulahdelah Big Breakfast. It certainly loved up to its name and was big enough for two of us to share. It included two eggs, bacon, mushrooms, two sausages, fried tomato, a hash brown and chunky, buttery toast. The eggs were done to order and they cooked them beautifully runny, exactly as we’d asked. For $21.90, it was excellent value and hot the spot.
The coffee was good and the tea was served in a pot.
The cafe is housed inside a small cottage and has an old-world charm. There are several dining rooms and a number of outdoor tables in the front garden area and around the patio.
There were a couple of glitches. Our sausages were left off the breakfast (but were cooked up freshly as soon as we asked) and some of the china (the milk jug and my teacup) had chips. A little off-putting but not a deal breaker.
Overall, this is a charming small town local cafe and we would go back again.

Difficulty placing order as extremely loud music by counter. Coffee was good, the two melting moments were like rock. I couldn’t even bite into mine. On asking for a refund or exchange we were told they don’t refund and if we wanted something different we would have to pay again. We finally got a refund after discussions with three different staff members. We are retirees with a very long day of driving ahead of us and really didn’t need this.

This is always my “Must stop and enjoy” start to any trip from Sydney north.
The ambience is only surpassed by the happy, courteous staff and wonderful menu choices.
Don’t forget to feed the gorgeous sparrows that flit in and out of the garden hedges and keep an eye out for the water dragons that have made Myalla home.
Friendly dogs are welcome and there is an abundance of water dishes to refresh your fur baby as well.
