When driving north from Sydney, the Myalla Cafe is a great little stopping point when you need a break. It’s about 3 hours from Sydney and is only a minute off the highway, at the riverside town of Bulahdelah. The breakfast menu has a fairly...conventional list of offerings (see photo below). We had the Bulahdelah Big Breakfast. It certainly loved up to its name and was big enough for two of us to share. It included two eggs, bacon, mushrooms, two sausages, fried tomato, a hash brown and chunky, buttery toast. The eggs were done to order and they cooked them beautifully runny, exactly as we’d asked. For $21.90, it was excellent value and hot the spot. The coffee was good and the tea was served in a pot. The cafe is housed inside a small cottage and has an old-world charm. There are several dining rooms and a number of outdoor tables in the front garden area and around the patio. There were a couple of glitches. Our sausages were left off the breakfast (but were cooked up freshly as soon as we asked) and some of the china (the milk jug and my teacup) had chips. A little off-putting but not a deal breaker. Overall, this is a charming small town local cafe and we would go back again.More
