Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here for coffee and cake. The place is run by a bunch of ladies past retirement age, but I found the coffee pretty good and there were lots of cake options. The ambiance was nice.

The coffee was tasteless and less than normal. Desserts cost three times the normal price. It is highly recommended not to visit this coffee house.

My spouse is coeliac so I am very conscious of gluten free options. I don’t know what has happened as we ate here a few years ago for afternoon tea and had delicious food which was suitable for the spouse. Just lucky maybe? We arrived...for lunch and the wait staff gave us a table and menus. Nothing on the menu had any information re gluten-free options. We asked the woman waiting tables if the soup of the day was gluten free and she seemed a little annoyed and said she would ask. She came back by the table and said as she passed “It’s not gluten free” and just kept walking, even though we both tried to speak with her. We just looked at each other and left, went to the Berrima Pub next door where there were good choices and helpful staff.More

Thought a Sunday brekkie would be great here. We sat outside as we had the dogs. Obviously this was hugely inconvenient. The staff were rude, coffee grim and we paid $50 for 2 coffees and 2 muesli for the privilege! Needless to say we will...not be returning.More

The breakfast was quite good here. Although we were not keen on the cats that were wandering outside and a couple inside the cafe.

Sadly disappointing. Clearly the cafe wasn't coping with the public holiday crowds. It just looked like chaos everywhere! My husband and I did manage to get a table, but we sat waiting for at least half an hour before we even got a menu. And...we only wanted a drink and a sweet treat! My mocha tasted like a very weak milky coffee, and I could barely taste the chocolate in it. I did enjoy my Neenish tart, but my husband found that his Florentine lacked chocolate and crispiness and was overall disappointing and hard to eat. There was also a cat wandering through the cafe which was a bit of a turn-off! Sadly I don't think we'll be back.More

After an awful experience up the road at The Courtyard Cafe, my wife and I then enjoyed a nice afternoon tea here at the Magpie cafe. We've visited here for breakfast on several occasions over the years and it's always good. Great food served in...a timely manner and friendly, professional service. Recommended.More

Have stopped here several times passing through at morning or afternoon tea time. There is a wonderful selection of excellent pastries, slices, biscuits and similar, displayed in a beautiful glass cabinet, and lovely teas to go with them. Also have a good range of confectionery,...bottled jams, and small (hopefully mostly local) gift ware. However service is always slow, and prices exorbitant. If money is not a concern you will thoroughly enjoy your morning or afternoon tea here.More

We arrived with our dog and staff obligingly moved a table outside into the shade for us to eat. Morning tea all good. Then my husband went to pay - first shock $43 for 2 x carrot cake and 2 x coffee WTF. My husband...went to pay with a $100 note and was told they didn't have change andwe should pay with a card. Hubby walked to the car to try and find smaller notes etc. He came back with $41.50 and again the older lady on the till said - pay with a card. After a couple of awkward minutes she begrudgingly accepted the $41.50 - give me a break.More
