I am so shocked at some of these reviews honestly what is wrong with people! We travel for an hour to eat their delicious food because there is nothing like this place in Sydney. Everything is excellent and the food amazing! Love love love the...scones, best I have ever had!More

The ambiance has an old world charm and the glass cake cabinet in the middle of the main room is magnificent but it is such a shame that the cuisine didn’t live up to our expectations. We ordered the “famous” twice cooked duck pie with...pear & raspberry salad It was nicely presented but wasn’t what I expected at all. Instead of an individual pie, it was a wedge of a very large pie which would have been very hard to heat as individual servings There were chunks of duck but not much flavour and it was interlaced with lots of carrot chunks. The pastry was not crisp and the raspberry in the salad didn’t enhance the flavour except for adding extra grit!!! The whole meal was lukewarm including the salad - did they heat the pie on a plate in the oven then add the salad to it or did they heat it all in the microwave?? Being the most expensive item on the menu - I would give it a BIG MISS ! Portuguese tart pastry was soggy and the custard floury. The meringue was nice but it would been better if the middle wasn’t so hard - I expected the middle to be slightly marshmallowy. I think it is time for a complete overhaul of the cuisine with a new chef.More

Food was good however it was overpriced, $27 for a pie. Drinks were also quite pricey. They charge extra if you want to share a meal.

Southern Highlands delivers again! Eclectic vibe, impeccable service, food is bliss. Stop in for coffee and cake or a meal - you will not be disappointed.

I loved the old-world beauty of the space and the friendly staff. The food (I had soup) was good, a little on the pricy side, but this is a rather pricy area

Quaint cafe with a beautiful old world atmosphere. We were so impressed with the lovely breakfast and coffee. We hadn’t read any reviews and just simply rocked up with no booking. The staff were great and the breakfast was excellent. Reading others who have reviewed...surprised me because we experienced a great meal.More

I have been to this cafe a few times over the years as I'm a local and even though the food is average and overpriced, I like the atmosphere. I have brought my laptop many times to work here and paid approximately $30 for say...two coffees and breakfast while spending 1-2 hours at a table. This morning my laptop charge was low, so I asked to move inside where I could plug into an electrical socket, near an inside table. Owner: Well, as long as you're not going to be here all day - Me: No just wanted to work for an hour or so. Owner: Well (pause) I suppose (pause) Okay then. After this less than welcoming exchange, particularly after spending $29, I thought I'm just going to leave, and promptly forgot to pay. But then rushed back to do so when I realised. The whole experience made me feel very flat and bewildered. There should be a sign 'No Laptops'. In Berrima, there are many lovely cafes where the food is much better and not as expensive. So if you want to be in 2020 where people do sometimes work at cafes, then I recommend The General Store which has divine pastries or Gumnut Patisserie which has the best pies. PS: The waitress who was new with the braids you did a fantastic job, and this is no reflection on you.More

We stopped for breakfast on road trip. The coffee was good and I had a brownie, which was very good. My wife had the bacon with maple syrup and French toast. This was large and tasty. All the dishes that people received looked well presented...and interesting. Service was polite and very welcoming. Happy to stop here again.More

Today may have been an off day for the ‘barista’ but my Almond milk flat white was too hot, plus no crema just bubbles on top. Nevertheless, very pleasant waitress. The carrot cake was nice, but the most expensive piece of cake I’ve ever bought...in a cafe, $12. Coffee and cake was $18.45. Just a normal slice, not big nice icing and a dob, small, of cream. Not a place I’d return to, but if you’ve money to throw away, a place with good parking.More
