We had a lovely Monday evening supper here. The fish and chips were superb. My mussels were in a tasty wine sauce. We finished with home made ice-creams. It was quiet but we were made most welcome. A lovely winter meal out.

We hit upon Silks on the Downs on a drive from Dover to Exeter and thought it would provide a decent lunch. Predictably in racehorse country, the décor comprised jockeys’ silks, horsey pictures and other racing memorabilia. Nevertheless, the place felt a bit soulless in a Farrow & Ball identikit aspiring gastropub kind of way. The major excitement was the... More

Arrived at our lodgings for the weekend late, this place was recommended to us so rang to book a table, the staff member that answered was both polite and efficient. We arrived and shown to our table, ordered drinks and food, rib-eye and handmade fish cakes, bloomin lovely!!! Finished off the evening with creme brûlée and my partner had ice... More

We came on spec and easily found a table, but often wiser to book. It was the calm before Valenties's day storm, I think. Service and food both excellent.

Nice atmosphere, friendly landlord. Good range of food. My wife and I only wanted a sandwich as we were having dinner out later that day. We both had the sirloin sandwich. The beef was tender and warm served with red onions. I had chips and my wife had salad. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Please note the car park... More

Went there for lunch with some friends. It was very quiet but I guess some days are quiet ones. The service was very good and very friendly. The food was decent pub grub and they had nice specials. Beers are ok and have a nice selection of wines. Well worth dropping by!

I have been to silks on several occasions over the past few years. The quality and taste has always been consistent. However , this time we found the restaurant to be too cold. I had mussels and chips which were very nice indeed. Highly recommend a visit but choose a warmer day :)

We visited the restaurant after a lovely walk in Savernake Forest so had built up a hearty appetite. I rang in advance and received a very warm welcoming response about taking my Grandson so felt assured we'd receive a pleasant visit. We weren't disappointed as we greeted by the owner who was genuinely friendly and welcoming and we felt instantly... More

A hidden gem outside Marlborough. We went a couple of times with family or friends, it's always been a winner!

Silks On The Downs is best described as a friendly & homely ' Gastro Pub '. Our menus change regularly and we source locally from the fantastic produce available around us. We are located in Ogbourne St Andrew, one mile outside the beautiful market town of Marlborough. Adorning our walls are framed silks of leading racehorse owners as worn by the jockeys, reflecting Wiltshire's rich racing heritage, as well as giving the pub its name. We are open daily for lunch and dinner (closed on a Sunday evening).
