we have been going there for 30 plus years. we always enjoyed the food there. it's mainly pa dutch cooking. no matter what you order, it's always good & you get plenty of food.be careful not to eat too much, their pies are great. also, the service there is always good & very friendly.
A short visit to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country provided us with the recommendation to dine at Schwalm's Cleona Restaurant. The person who made the recommendation to us actually swooned with delight just thinking about his experiences. We responded to the recommendation by dining at Schwalms. I grew up in Lebanon, PA and was raised on good Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. Schwalms... More
Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner a great place for a meal at a reasonable price. The baking is great but all the meals are very tasty. This is definately a place where the locals eat. Some of the kindest waitresses you will ever meet. This is not fine dining. This is where you go when you want a good meal at... More
It is time for this Restaurant to start using more fresh food. There are too many unhealthy frozen processed food on the menu. The chicken parm is a Flat deep fried breaded disc( does not taste like chicken) and the sauce for the pastas has a acidic burnt taste it is time for a new recipe or buy Prego. Gilled... More
Heard that the chipped beef was popular here, so we both ordered it and was it ever good, possibly the best I ever had. Very small ma and pa style old fashioned laid back place. Parking in street but some in rear of building.
This is a long-running establishment, constantly frequented by locals. Known for its home-style dishes, the menu includes most categories of meals, plus an extensive listing of specials for that day. The staff, especially the servers, are prompt, efficient, and friendly. I dined on chef's salad and when I requested extra dressing, it was brought to me quickly. Since we had... More
I've only eaten here for breakfast, but they have by far the best creamed chipped beef in the area. It's the only thing I like for breakfast, and I have ordered in it many restaurants in the area, and this is much better than anyplace else. They do not skimp on the meat like a lot of places. The service... More
We pass this restaurant when we go to Harrisburg and thought we would try it out. We went through the front door and it smelled very bad. It had the odor of a retirement home that was not cleaned in a while. Needless to say, we turned around and left.
If you like dutch food this place will work for you. All the seafood is heavily breaded, where's the fish? I will never go back, and watch out for the electrical pole in the back lot, right in the middle of the parking lot caused many bumper bumps.
